Metabolic Age Calculator
Yes, there are calculators online and are based on your age, weight, height and gender. However, these are only estimates of BMR. The best to calculate your BMR is to have indirect calorimetry (ask your doctor about it)

Yes: There are standard tables for men and women, indicating the expected maximum heart rates at different ages, that would occur on exercise. You can easily find them on line. Weight is not a factor because different people can have different weights and get the same maximum heart rate on execise. ...Read more
If my son is age 12 but has a bone age of one year behind (taken about 5 years ago) would I use age 11 in one of the height calculators?
Not necessarily: A bone age of 1 year behind from 5 years ago could very well have changed by now--could be that the bone age has caught up and now he is a bone age of 12, not 11. Or maybe his bone age is even ahead and he is 13, not 12. You should use his chronological age, 12. And if you are still worried about his height, go see an endocrinologist and have another bone age and workup done. ...Read more

Age 29 y taking atorvastatin 10 mg diagnostic as metabolic syndrome now I have back pain in kidney area urine test show ph=6, yellow, s.Turbid, help?
Turbid urine: It seems, from your symptoms that you have, at the very least a urinary tract infection (uti). If you had some muscle destruction from the statin you are taking, you would have generalized muscle pain. Your turbid urine is quite consistent with a uti. See your doctor, have your temperature taken and have your urine sent off for a culture and sensitivity and get started on an antibiotic. Good luck. ...Read more
What age does coronary heart disease happen most commonly especially with family history, metabolic syndrome?
HIGHLY variable!: Hi. The risk goes up as you age, and at any age, populations with positive family history and metabolic syndrome have higher risk of CHD than otherwise matched populations without those characteristics. You can use the Framingham Risk Score (online), but still, it assigns risk based on population studies. You, the individual, have genetics and environmental characteristics not taken into account. ...Read more
Would normal CBC, metabolic panel, ESR, CRP, PT, aPTT, d-dimer make multiple myeloma or waldenstrom macroglobulinemia unlikely? Given a presumptive diagnosis of von Willebrand at age 31 with no known family history. Concerned it may be acquired form.
Not right tests: If you wish to be tested for multiple myeloma or Waldenstrom, you should have serum protein electrophoresis and immunofixation electrophoresis and if needed similar studies on urine. It is not a do it yourself diagnosis and your doctor should order the tests, if warranted. ...Read more
Pregnancy wheel: I'm not sure what exactly you're asking for here, but I'm assuming you need a guide to calculating pregnancy dates. Usually you can figure it by the date of either conception or the date of the last menstrual period, then using a pregnancy wheel (i'm sure there are online versions) that will calculate what the due date should be. ...Read more
You don't: Calculators make assumptions that everybody ovulates and that everybody has periods every month. However, this may not necessarily be the case. Calculator will just give you an ovulation date 2 weeks prior to your menses. To be certain that you actually ovulate, you should purchase an OPK and use it as directed, generally start testing ~ day 10 if you have regular periods. ...Read more

If your due date is based off of an ultrasound, you could then see when you most likely had your menses and when you conceived.
Is that what you mean?
If you are sure of your menstrual period, it should correlate closely with your due date from an ultrasound.
I hope that helps. :). ...Read more
Not accurate: Online calculators make lots of assumption. First they assume that you ovulate, which is not the case for all women. Then they either assume that your periods are exactly 28 days apart or that you ovulate exactly 14 days before your next period. A better way is to use over the counter ovulation prediction kits which will help you know when exactly you are ovulating and time intercourse ...Read more

Difference in GFR: The answer to you question is that the GFR calculators give an estimated, not an actual, gfr. The calculation used to estimate the GFR is based on a person's age, sex, race, height and weight. The difference in your estimated GFR levels is about 5%, perhaps your weight was different. The only way to know what your real GFR is is to have a doctor order a 24 hour urine for creatinine clearance. ...Read more

I have two ovulation-calculator apps, it said. Different answers. One it said last week on 4/15 and the other one it said today 4/20. Confusing, help?
Dates: On a normal cycle your ovulation is 14 days before your next period. But since you can't foretell the future, this is of little help. You might have 11-17 days from the beginning of your period until ovulation. After ovulation it is always 14 days to your period. The apps have to assume a 25 day cycle or a 28 day or a 31 day cycle - thus the difference. ...Read more

For studies: In order to study obesity, one has to have a definition of what it means to be obese. You can't simply use weight, as 200 lb might be obese for some people but would be a thin person if their height was 6 ft 8 in. Bmi takes into account height and weight. A bmi over 30 is considered obese. ...Read more
Use BMI calculator: Google up the bmi calculator, or "body mass indicator." this is based on your height and weight only.
