What is the difference between asacol (mesalamine) and lialda. Do some people have different side effects to one vs the other/?

See below: Taking Asacol (mesalamine) hd & Prilosec at the same time may reduce the effectiveness of the asacol (mesalamine). Allow at least 2-3 hours between them. If the Asacol (mesalamine) irritates your stomach, take the Prilosec first, followed by the Asacol (mesalamine) a few hours later. Other antacids, acid blockers like zantac/pepcid will interact with Asacol (mesalamine) in the same way as prilosec; so space the meds apart when you take them. ...Read more

I'm taking 3 asacol (mesalamine) in the morning and 3 at night. What are the side effects of drinking hard alcohol such as gin or vodka with these medications?
I have ulcerative colitis. I am on pentasa (mesalamine) tabs and messalamine rectal enema . Last 2 days my poop is green and I have had back spasms, swollen feet.
Ideally you should: be able to hold it in through the night time sleep cycle. This may take several days before you can accomplish this. The longer you hold the more effective the treatment. Using colocort enema every 3 days to control inflammation from colitis in addition to asacol (mesalamine) daily. Is long time usage of colocort bad? No problem yet
Maybe: Colocort is a steroid medication. Although you are using it in limited fashion and in a topical form, there is still systemic absorption and, over time, steroid side effects can occur (bone loss, glucose intolerance, hip problems, cataracts, etc).
