Can doing sports activity in heat accelerate fat loss?

No: Since the body reacts more slowly to hot weather than cold, hot benefits only if you are exposed for a long period of time. You REALLY have to stay well hydrated. Is there a rule of thumb about sports injuries and when to apply ice, as opposed to heat?

Is there a rule of thumb about sports injuries and when to apply ice, as opposed to heat?

Generally...: Generally, ice causes the blood flow to decrease in an area so it will theoretically help more for inflammatory conditions like an acutely sprained ankle or knee. Other, chronically damaged joints (such as knee arthritis), seem to feel better with heat. This is not entirely true, however, as sprained back often feels better with heat than ice, possibly because it relaxes the muscles. ...Read more

It also sounds as though you might be coping with add and it may be helpful to be tested and treated for this as well. Being treated for the symptoms (with medication) can make a tremendous difference in one's productivity and therefore self-esteem.

Ignore failure: Motivation to quit is great first step. Discuss with your doctor. Use multiple strategies e.g., nicotine replacement + meds + behavioral approaches. Take one day at a time, and if you don't succeed, ignore failure and try again, and again, and again, until you succeed. Don't let failure sap your self-esteem. If it were really easy to quit, it wouldn't be an addiction. All the best! ...Read more
