Menstrual Cycle After Conception
Why do I always have a menstrual cycle after conception? I have a period and then i don't have any more until after i give birth.
Bleeding: Bleeding does not mean you are having a menses. Menses is the loss of blood from the uterus when you are not pregnant and your hormones fall. Bleeding during pregnancy is very common and can have a number of sources including the rectum, cervix and just the stretching of the uterus to accommodate the growing baby. Bleeding without cramping can be normal. ...Read more
The menstrual cycle begins with the shedding of the uterine lining, resulting in bleeding from the vagina. A few weeks later, one ovary releases an egg and the uterine lining thickens in preparation for a potential pregnancy. Pregnancy can occur at this stage if sperm fertilizes the egg. If the egg is not fertilized, the egg will leave your body and ...Read more
Is BHCG measured from first day from last menstrual period? Or day of conception ? If I am 5-6 weeks from LMP what expected level?
NOT reliable: The B-HCG test is not reliable for determining age of the developing baby. The B-HCG Quantatative test is more for monitoring issues and assuring it is rising (or in the unfortunate case of a miscarriage, falling, etc.) The "Qualatative test will be either Positive or Negative, but as states the Quantataitve gives broad age ranges not used for or helpful in determining the age. US is best. ...Read more
Hi doctors is your last menstrual period or a ultrasound @ 6 weeks more accurate i need to pinpoint my date of conception? Thanks!
Neither: HCG is a hormone and is measured like a chemical. A level below 5 is not consistent with pregnancy and level above 25 indicates pregnancy. In-between these two values warrants repeating the test in a week or so. See this site for more info. http://americanpregnancy.org/while-pregnant/hcg-levels/ ...Read more
I have irregular periods so how can I tell the difference between implantation bleeding and a menstrual period? I'm 20 days past conception.
If not sure about my average menstral cycle, can conception date still be determined if gestational age goes by an average 28 day cycle?
If U/S done early...: The ultrasound done early in pregnancy (about 8-11 weeks gestation) can give an accurate estimate of when conception occurred and when the due date will be. An ultrasound done at other times will be less accurate for estimating dates. In the big picture, all dates are estimates, and we humans did fine for thousands of years without any ultrasound dating! ...Read more
Sorry very slim: At age 45 chances of conception are near zero, sorry to say. More exactly, for over 99.9/100 women the chances ARE zero, though a very small number of pregnancies have happened. Pregnancies absolutely occurred up to 47; no one "knows" for sure how late in life a woman can conceive. I've read cases reported up to 58; I'm not certain how well proven these are. ...Read more
