How can I tell the difference between pregnancy cramps and menstrual cramps? My ob confirmed pregnancy on feb.7th at 5 wks 4 days. I had cramps on jan17

Naming cramps...: Pregnancy cramps happen only when pregnant. Otherwise, they are not called pregnancy cramps. Menstrual cramps cannot happen when pregnant, because pregnant women do not have menstrual cycles (they do not menstruate while pregnant). If cramps are during pregnancy, one can call them pregnancy cramps whether they feel like menstrual cramps or like pregnancy cramps (they likely feel similarly). ...Read more

I am 10 weeks pregnant. Every day, from time to time I have light menstrual cramps which worriedme a lot. Are they normal in pregnancy and for how long?

Normal.: Mild cramps and aches are common in pregnancy as the uterus grows and stretches its supporting ligaments. Not to worry if there is no vaginal bleeding and your obstetrician's examination is normal at each prenatal care visit. You may only use regular tylenol (acetaminophen) for discomforts of pregnancy - not advil/aleve/motrin or other nsaids! take Folic Acid 1-5 mg daily and good luck! ...Read more

Delay menses for 3 days. Slight spotting and feel slight menstrual cramps. Did 3 pregnancy test, all negative! What can be the reason?

Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. See doc if period does not come in a few weeks. ...Read more

I had several positive pregnancy test s. My period is due tomorrow and I'm having menstrual cramps should I worry or are cramps normal?

Normal: First of all, congratulations! There is a certain amount of cramping that can happen initially with pregnancy. What you should worry about is if you start bleeding. You are pregnant and when women bleed in the first trimester, they need to be evaluated for ectopic pregnancy which is a pregnancy in the fallopian tube. So if you are cramping a bit, just stay well hydrated and watch out for blood. ...Read more

Can be normal: It can be very normal to have some fairly strong cramps during early pregnancy, it is extremely common.
