Unlikely: In my clinical experience it is highly unlikely, although individual results might vary. It can't hurt to try for a short while, but don't expect a miracle. Your best bet would be to have the depression treated - if your physician feels that your depression has been well treated and your back pain resolves, then the back pain may be attributed to depression. Some patients have absolutely no mood changes, some patients note mood swings, and some have worsening depression. If a patient had worsening depression there are hormonal and non-hormonal treatments that may improve their symptoms, so it is worthwhile to see a provider in that situation.
