Is the 460 mg of magnesium carbonate in Gaviscon, the same as 460mg of magnesium citrate in a supplement?
Melatonin: Some people confuse regular melatonin in material doses of 3-6 mg, with the "homeopathic" form -- manufactured in potencies of 12x, etc. Melatonin in material doses can induce sleep. Some may experience grogginess the next day with it, though. The "homeopathic" form is not a true homeopathic remedy because no provings have been done on it, and it may or may not correspond to your exact symptoms. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Will a sleep aid with melatonin, valerian extract, hops - humulus lupulus, passionflower, chamomile have any affect on the birth control pill?
Unknown: That's one of the problems with botanicals, there aren't any controlled studies with which to reference when it comes to drug interactions. I recommend you start with the birth-control and look for drug interactions on the package insert. Even with proper use of oral birth control pills there still is about 1% failure rate. ...Read more

Is Magnesium Oxide 300mg with Manganese 4mg(Manganese amino acid chelate 40mg*11mgUpper Limit)for
Migraine Aura or is Magnesium Citrate Best Option?
Any : Any patient who has insomnia must pay attention to their sleep hygiene. You must avoid alcohol and sedatives after 6 pm, leave bed for sex and sleep only and no tv in bed. If you can't fall asleep in bed don't stay in bed just find something else to do and come back to bed when u are a little sleepy. This will train your brain that bed is not for worrying/watching tv etc and will improve sleep. If all this does not work then you can consider other alternatives. Since melatonin is a natural supplement thus should be the first step. Sleep aids have high risk of dependance and should be tried on as needed basis only. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I think so: Interesting question. I spent quite a bit of time researching this and have not found a definitive answer, but as far as i could tell they are different names for the same thing. If any doctors here have other information i hope they will share it. I find magnesium glycinate/bis-glycinate and magnesium taurate to the best-absorbed and best-tolerated form of oral magnesium. ...Read more
Need help to stay asleep. Valerian with hops? Passionflower, motherwort, 5htp? Take 0.5mg of Xanax (alprazolam) at bedtime only.
Evaluation first: Before further medications or botanical/nutritional supplements, you need a fuller evaluation of your difficulty sleeping. Many issues can interfere with sleep, and taking xanax (alprazolam) every night is not a long-term solution. Please talk with your doctor about your sleep issues more fully. Consulting with a psychiatrist may be useful for you, and you may even need a sleep study to get the best help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
In standard doses is it safe to take these together? Milk Thistle, Selenium, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Magnesium, Potassium + B Complex? On Benzos sometimes
Probably ok ...: They are few if any studies evaluating whether specific herbs/supplements can be taken together. A rule of thumb: a large dose of anything should be taken at a separate time as it may compete for another's absorption. There are reports of supplements interfering with benzodiazepine withdrawal, but occasional use shouldn't be a factor. Careful with those, though! They're addicting! ...Read more
