Hormone related...: Melasma, chloasma, and the "mask of pregnancy" are all terms for facial pigmentation that is increased by the use of estrogen (in pregnancy, of course, the estrogen comes from the placenta). I have melasma spots all over my face from past pregnancy and bcp/hormones. Don't want retin-a or hydroquinone 2nd to chemicals. Any effective lasertx?

Various treatments: Melasma can be frustrating to have and a challenge to treat. Daily sun protection is important. Often the best results may occur by using a combination of treatments. These include topical treatments, peels and sometimes laser. Lasers can be helpful, but i recommend treatment with low energies, as higher energies can sometimes stimulate pigment worsening.
