How much time for incurable breast cancer that has spread to the bones, the spine and lymph nodes which have caused edema in the arm?

How much time for incurable breast cancer that has spread to the bones, the spine and lymph nodes which have caused edema in the arm?

Possibly long time: One of the sites of metastatic breast cancer that responds to newer chemo drugs is osseous involvement. All depend of course on hormone status of the tumor and whether it is triple negative or responds to herceptin/taxol. I now believe that what is in the nodes such as axilla stay in axilla and if not removed may cause the swelling of the arm. Age here is also a factor. ...Read more

What are the chances that breast cancer that has spread to the lymn nodes has not spread to other organ..

What are the chances that breast cancer that has spread to the lymn nodes has not spread to other organ..

Lymph Nodes are a...: ...Window into the rest of the body, meaning, when breast cancer is found in the axillary nodes we assume it is elsewhere. Removing cancerous lymph nodes does not short-circuit the spread of cancer--it tells us what tools are needed. However, this does not make it incurable. It simply means that a combination of chemotherapy & your own body's immune defense will have to kill these "foreigners". ...Read more

If one has breast cancer , can it go into lungs and spread there?

If one has breast cancer , can it go into lungs and spread there?

Yes: Breast cancer can spread to virtually any site in the body, including the lungs. Most common is spread to lymph nodes in the armpit which are commonly removed with the primary tumor. Next most common is spread to bones(25%), lung (20%), brain and liver (15% each). Cure becomes less likely with spread to other organs but is not impossible and patients can live for many years with spread. ...Read more

If stomach cancer has invaded the fibroadipose tissue under the pancreas, can it be cured? Presuming that the cancer hasn't spread to distant organs.

If stomach cancer has invaded the fibroadipose tissue under the pancreas, can it be cured? Presuming that the cancer hasn't spread to distant organs.

Potentially curable: Aggressive locally advance stomach (gastric) cancers that erode into nearby organs can potentially be cured with aggressive surgery and chemoradiation therapy. The staging workup with PET-CT scan must be performed along with high-definition scans of abdomen with CT or MRI. The procedure may end up being like a Whipple surgery. The surgical oncologist is the doctor that will make the decision. ...Read more

My grandmother had cancer in other areas and its been removed. She has cancer also in her bones, how fast does bone cancer spread?

My grandmother had cancer in other areas and its been removed. She has cancer also in her bones, how fast does bone cancer spread?

Likely not from bone: From your question, it sounds like your grandmother has previously had cancer and it was treated. The cancer "also in her bones" is most likely the same cancer. Most likely what is there has spread (metastasized) from her primary site, i.e., the cancer you are talking about is already a product of "spread." While unlikely at her age she has a primary bone cancer, please clarify with her physician. ...Read more

It varies: Lung cancer does not spread to the airways, it begins there. The range of likely life span -- or the possibility of a cure -- depends on the specific type of lung cancer. No way to tell: If she's relatively young, the possibility of li-fraumeni affecting the family is a concern.
