Why does a Medrol (methylprednisolone) pack make your eyes blurry?

Why does a Medrol (methylprednisolone) pack make your eyes blurry?

Normally shouldn't: The Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack is a tapering dosage of oral steroids for a short term treatment of inflammation somewhere in the body. Such a short course of steroids should not usually affect the eyes directly (longer term use can cause increased eye pressure and cataract). One possibility is that the blood sugar has increased (diabetes) which can affect vision rapidly. You may need an exam to be sure. ...Read more

Potentially: A Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack is basically a regimen of oral steroids, usually taken for anywhere from a 6-15 day course. Steroids are very potent anti-inflammatories and so can help inflammatory conditions such as a radiculopathy secondary to a herniated disc. Just ending 2nd Medrol (methylprednisolone) pack within month for idiopathic hives. Feeling tired and fatigued today. Caffeine not taking edge off. Is this normal? If so why does methylpred do this?

Taking correctly?: Make sure you are following the directions for your steriod taper to the letter. Do not vary this in any way, shape or form because it can cause problems. It's not unusually to feel "different" after a course of steroids. It's best to touch base with the prescribing physician to see if they want to see you or order any lab testing. ...Read more

Doc gave me Medrol (methylprednisolone) pack for possible MS relapse. Have had the IV drip many times. It always gives me chest pain on breathing in. How can I combat this?

Advice: If you do indeed have a true ms relapse, a Medrol (methylprednisolone) dosepak lacks sufficient impact to really reverse it, but both oral and intravenous approaches will work. Just need much higher dosing level. Maybe you would tolerate Prednisone or acthar better. Discuss with your doctor. ...Read more

Asthma attack led to ER visit. Given breathing treatment and two steroids. Medrol (methylprednisolone) pack for home. My heart rate is 100, is that ok?

No: Although high-dose Medrol can increase your heart rate, use of bronchodilator or uncontrolled asthma may be another cause. I noted that you are on Toprol (metoprolol) which may render your asthma more difficult to control and you should discuss this with your doctor preferably a B/C allergist. ...Read more

Just finished a medrol (methylprednisolone) pack. Now I have back, flank and stomach pain with nausea, dizziness and low grade fever. Could this be a side effect?

Doubt it: Anything is possible in the universe but I wouldn't put my money on all of that being SIDE EFFECTS of the MEDROL (methylprednisolone). I'd get a urine analysis, CBC w/diff, some orthostatic blood pressures, and make sure I were drinking doubling my fluid intake with the symptoms you've got. Oh, almost forgot, make an appointment with the doctor who gave you the Dosepak to check you over for an infection. ...Read more
