What is the treatment for zithromax overdose?

No antidote for it: I have never seen or heard of any serious trouble with zithromax od--from people have accidentally taken 3-4 times what is recommended. Single dose of 2gm (4x more than usual dose of longer course of 5 days) is often given these days, and those who have trouble usually end up vomitting it out. So, od will likely result in vomitting/diarrhea etc. If you have trouble, consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

Antibiotics question: does zithromax really work with just 3 or 5 day's medicine?

Antibiotics question: does zithromax really work with just 3 or 5 day's medicine?

Stays in system: Zithromax is a novel drug in its mechanism of distribution and dosing. Many require multiple doses daily because they transit the body in a hours, ending in your poo or urine. Zithromax enters the body, binds transiently to fat cells and leaks into the blood over approximately two weeks. U could probably take it all as a single dose & get good results, but the risk of barfing it out would increase. ...Read more

I was given zithromax and I think I had a steven johnson syndrome reaction the docs changed medicine and sent me home is this an ok or should I go back?

Depends on symptoms: If your physician is truly concerned about either Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis you should be admitted to the hospital. Early recognition and immediate withdrawal of any potentially causative agents are critical first steps in management. If the diagnosis is unclear, then you should be seen by your primary doctor immediately so that the correct diagnosis can be made. ...Read more

I am taking accutane (40mg) since 3 months and I have to take for few days zithromax and diflucan, (fluconazole) is there any interaction between these medicine?

I am taking accutane (40mg) since 3 months and I have to take for few days zithromax and diflucan, (fluconazole) is there any interaction between these medicine?

Small: Accutane does not interact with either of these medications. There is a slight risk of the Zithromax and Diflucan (fluconazole) interacting, but it is low in someone young like yourself, and if those two medications were prescribed by the same doctor, it is not worth questioning. If they were prescribed by two separate doctors, alert them to determine whether they wish to have you take both. ...Read more

Start taking probio: tics. You're killing good microbiome bacteria with antibiotics to help fight your bacteria infection causing secondary vaginitis. So take some probiotics or fermented vegetables, 25 billion twice a day to repopulate the good bacteria while on the antibiotics. Then once a day per your PCP's recommendations. Both Lactobacillus & Bifidus are needed. Stay away from sugars, processed foods, GMO foods. ...Read more

I took a four pill pack of zithromax on sunday. I'm having a birthday party on saturday, is it ok for me to drink alcohol? Just want to make sure it won't have a counter effect to medicine or harm me.

By: By the date of this post your party has passed. For the future or for anyone reading this, in a situation like this if you drink while taking zithromax or any antibiotic for that matter it will not interfere with the effectiveness of the antibiotic. The only issue you may encounter is GI (stomach) issues, which are common with alcohol and also with antibiotics. When combined this could cause more stomach upset, diarrhea, and vomiting. Lastly, consider if you are on antibiotics then you were dealing with an illness or getting over something and drinking while sick is probably not the best idea.
Take care. ...Read more

What is the normal dosage of zithromax prescribed for bronchitis?

None, I hope: Most bronchitis is viral, and Azithromycin won't help. If you have a known atypical pneumonia from bacterial causes it depends on the infectious agent, etc. The typical dose is 500, g for one day then 250mg for four days for a bronchitis in a patient with COPD and worsening cough... Otherwise chicken soup is just the thing. ...Read more

I have taking zithromax at aproximately 8:00 am this morning and this is the second day I have taken it. It is now 5:30, is it ok to have 3-4 beers?

OK in moderation: Contrary to popular beliefs, alcohol in moderation doesn't interfere with antibiotics and it's OK to drink while taking them. Just don't overdo it, for sure not more than 3-4 beers and for sure don't get drunk. Large amounts of alcohol can interfere with the immune system's ability to fight infections. Both azithromycin and alcohol can upset the stomach, so be careful from that standpoint. ...Read more

I took a 250mg Zithromax tablet by accident an 42 mins early out of the 5 day pack I took it at 748 bc I thought it was 830 and realized I messed up?

No problem: Each dose of azithromycin remains in your system for 10 days. Also, you can safely take 4 or even 8 times this dose all at once, with no harm except maybe some transient nausea or cramping. There is absolutely no need to be so precise in dose timing. Take it at roughly the same time each day (+/- 4 hours) then don't worry about it. ...Read more
