What is normal mixed urogenital bacteria?

What is normal mixed urogenital bacteria?

Bacteria: Bacteria are seldom seen in mixed populations as the cause of urinary tract infection. There are multiple bacteria that can reside on the tissues of the female genitalia, and this is what they may be referring to in order to distinguish them from bacteria known to be capable of producing human infection. ...Read more

How could urogenital bacteria get into urine?

How could urogenital bacteria get into urine?

If real, from skin: Most likely contamination from the skin, especially if your urinalysis has epithelial cells. If your urinalysis does not have epithelial cells, or if yo have symptoms such as burning when you urinate or the need to urinate more often, then then this may truly reflect a urinary tracy infection from these bacteria having ascended your urethra via your skin. ...Read more

Urine culture states mixed urogenital flora 50, 000 - 100, 000 colony forming units per mL. What does this means?

What do these results mean... Urine Culture, Routine (LC). .. Mixed Urogenital Flora 10, 000-25, 000 colony forming units per ML?

Urine Culture: You have "normal" bacteria which are not though to cause a disease (like a UTI) that grew from the culture. We have bacteria all over our body including the urological and genital areas that normally grow there. If you disagree and feel like you have a UTI, you can get the test repeated or look for other causes. ...Read more

I have untreated diverticulitis, and urogenital problems due to 3rd/4th degree episiotomies. No insurance, can I use fiber in the meantime?

Doctor said culture was neg. My actual results said >100000 colony forming units/ml of mixed urogenital flora. Still have symptoms-what do I do?

Get cath urine: Generally mixed flora like that indicates contamination. A cath specimen should be done and if still shows bacteria then would treat with antibiotics. If cath symptoms are neg and you still have urinary symptoms then need to see a urologist for possible direct bladder examination (cystoscope). ...Read more

Urine culture said I had 3 or more colony's that had >10, 000cfu/ml mixture of normal urogenital microbiota none prominent. What does this mean?

Contamination: Sounds like this was most likely due to contamination of the urine sample (not a clean catch). The bacteria that grew were normal bacteria that live on the skin in and around the urethra rather than pathogenic bacteria that would cause a urinary tract infection. If you are having symptoms of a urinary tract infection (painful urination, increased urgency or frequency) follow up with your dr. ...Read more

Suggests contamination with urogenital or skin flora. >100, 000 CFU/ml Lactobacillus species. 20, 000 CFU/ml mixed gram positive flora. What's it mean?

Means contaminated: Urine specimen from the surrounding area around urethra (opening where the urine comes out from). You may want to repeat the test, if your doctor still wants that, get a clean catch specimen, which entails cleansing the area first, passing some urine, then obtain a midstream urine sample, follow the lab instructions for that, best wishes ...Read more

How deep do I have to put the swab on a urogenital swab test for a STI check? Doctor said just the tip, is that true?

STD testing: Swab testing of the urethral lining can find certain difficult to prove infections. Chlamydia and gonorrhea are such stds and cannot be identified by blood or urine.

Leukocytes in urine. Urine culture mixed urogenital flora 10, 000-25, 000. Frequent urination. Did not respond to antibiotic. What does this mean?

Mixed flora: Hi Ashley. If you have "mixed flora" in the urine - even with leukocytes (or white cells) - it may mean that the specimen was not a "clean catch" specimen. There are other signs in the test to help determine this. If an urinary tract infection (UTI) is still a consideration, a repeat urine test and culture could be considered. ...Read more

URINE CLEAN CATCH 8, 000 CFU/ML GR. B BETA HEMOLYTIC STREP <10, 000 CFU/ML MIXED UROGENITAL FLORA Doc did not give abx for this. What does it mean?

No infection.: Strep often colonlizes the genital tract without causing infection; it doesn't require treatment when found in the urine or on a genital swab unless you're pregnant. Mixed flora means the urine sample you gave was contaminated with bacteria from your genital skin/hair and doesn't indicate infection. If you are having painful urination, frequency, or urgency, get re-tested. ...Read more

Hello Doctor! I wanna that is vitamin D important for sexual erectile? If yes, taking vitamin D supplement doesn't have side effect on urogenital?

Vit D: Adequate levels of Vitamin D are important for many health benefits. Your body naturally makes Vitamin D when you are exposed to sunlight. If you live in an area that is usually cloudy, you may need extra vitamin D. That said, it does not directly affect erectile function. Too much Vitamin D can cause illness. Too little can increase cardiovascular disease risk which can affect ED ...Read more

Took statin drugs 9 years side effects made me stop the drug will the 9 years I was on statins be a credit when I get into my 70s and 80's?

Cholesterol karma: Lets start by saying statins simply control a risk factor (hypercholesterolemia). There is no evidence that they extend your life. The more important question would be, what are your current risk factors? Are you eating right? Exercising? What's your bmi. What's your blood pressure? What's your cholesterol now? Talk to your doc. They can assess your risks and set you on the right course if action. ...Read more

My sister committed suicide from a drug/alcohol overdose. I know it depends on the drug (s) & amount of alcohol. Would this been a painful death?

Usually not: People who have witnessed such deaths describe them as peaceful. I'm very sorry about your sister and whatever it was that caused her to decide life wasn't worth living. Our minds play tricks on us, and each of us has times when we are not ourselves. I hope you'll cherish the memories that you had together, and live your own life richly and well. ...Read more
