I am currently on septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) and toredol. I developed a cold, is it okay to take neocitran? If not, what can I take?

Septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) with cold: Septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is an antibiotic. Is septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) ds prescribed for strep throat?

Sulfa for Strep: Sulfonamide drugs were frequently used for Strep throat in the 1930s but fell out of favor approximately 10 years later when it was felt that bacterial resistance has developed. However, at least one study has proven this to be false, and sulfonamide drugs may be useful for this infection in patients with allergies to more traditionally used antibiotics or with multiple infections.
