Post nasal drip is causing me to gag and vomit will Robitussin CF help also got a cough from the drip?
Yes & no: 2 ingredients in Robitussin CF (cough suppressant dextromethorfan, expectorant guaifenesin) may help but the 3rd (decongestant pseudoephedrine) may keep the nose & sinuses running since it opens sinus passages. May want to use Robitussin-DM or Mucinex dm which don't have the decongestant. Antihistamine like zyrtec (cetirizine) will help stop runny nose. Possible drowsiness with these meds. ...Read more

Robitussin (guaifenesin) CF safe?: Cough suppressant, dextromethorphan is rated category C which means that no controlled studies in pregnancy have been done so weigh benefits vs risk. For the decongestant, phenylephrine, its also rated as category C. It can raise the baby's heart rate and blood pressure. If it were me, I would stick to Robitussin plain which is guaifenesin, also category C but just one drug with minimal systemic eff ...Read more

I have dosed pseudoephedrine hci, guaifenesin, and dextromethorphan hbr. I also took 2 10/650 vicodin. Is this safe I took about 3.5 fluid ounces of Robitussin cf, which is what contained all the ingredients listed. Is this combination potentially harm
No: 3.5 ounces of Robitussin (guaifenesin) is an excessive dose in and of itself (usual dose is 15-30 ml, which is 1/2-1 oz). Combining this with 2 vicodin increases the chance of toxic effects. Follow instructions on otc medications if you want to use them safely, and tell the doctor prescribing the vicodin about your use of other medications with it. ...Read more
