Methotrexate injections and pills didn't work for scleritis and was wondering if remicade (infliximab) is good medicine for the scletitis?
Resistant scleritis: Initial therapy always requires systemic nsaids, glucocorticoids, or other immunosuppressives (rituximab & cyclophosphamide). Cyclosporine & mycophenolate may also work. Azathioprine or mtx may be most beneficial for maintenance. Tnf Alpha inhibitors (eg infliximab) may be effective in resistant disease. Would REMICADE affect my negative HIV 4th gen combo test at 9 weeks after exposure? I heard it's immunosuppressive drug. I tested RNA at 9.7 weeks. I'm so worried about seroconversion and even hiv-2(since p24 is not detectable in hiv2 infection).
HIV test: Contrary to common beliefs, there are NO drugs that aler the reliability of the 4th generation (antigen-antibody) HIV tests. If any effect at all, immunosuppressive drugs might make the test MORE likely to detect infection sooner than otherwise. But inflximab (Remicade) makes no difference at all. Probably Not: There is not much data supporting the safety of Remicade (infliximab) use during pregnancy. There are concerns about immunosupression and possibly congenital malformations of the baby.
