I have been taking prevacid (lansoprazole) for about 19 years for my acid condition. Should i cease to take it and change to another drug for acid reflux ? Please
I started taking Plavix once a day and I also take Prevacid (lansoprazole) and on occasion Prilosec. Is there any interactions with these drugs?
Absolutely: There is a well know interaction between plavix and proton pump inhibitors. Plavix is a prodrug(inactive) and is activated in the liver. This process of activation is blocked by proton oump inhibitors. Specifically with nexium and prilosec, also somewhat with other ppis. The only one safe to use is dexilant (dexlansoprazole) and possibly protonix. Or change plavix to effient or brilinta under guidance of MD ...Read more
Not at all: No they are all, as you said PPI's and appear to provide similar relief. Some are more expensive than others and drug companies would like you to believe their PPI works better than the generic. It is my belief that in general, you should stick with generic medications. Do not fall for the marketing hype. ...Read more

Will likely digest: When a person takes Prevacid (lansoprazole), (lansoprazole) it should be because they have too much stomach acid. While the drug will likely lower the level of acid, there are other ways that acid is produced and released. It is probably better to think of Prevacid (lansoprazole) as "dialing it down" rather than turning off a switch. ...Read more
Depends who answers: Prevacid (http://www.drugs.com/prevacid.html) is a brand of generic lansoprazole. Most original versions of drugs are 50:50 mix of mirror images. In other words, they come in right AND left hand versions. Some manufacturers have learned to separate active version (sometimes right, other times left) from inactive one. Excessive alcohol can contribute to both gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) and an ulcer. I would encourage you to limit your alcohol intake, and consider abstaining from it, depending on the diagnosis that led to your prescription for Prevacid. ...Read more
