Which medicine is the safest for treating pinworm in pregnancy?

None in pregnancy: The medications used for the treatment of pinworm are mebendazole, pyrantel pamoate, or albendazole. However, safety of these drugs has not been studied for pregnant women. Took albenza (albendazole) two days ago for pinworms. Still feeling crawling sensation in anus at night. Is the medicine working?

I should be: That sensation is most likely inflammation of the tissue and skin around the anus which takes a few days to calm down even after the parasites have died. Give it some time. Since treatment has been started, at this point a cream like Proctosol may hasten relief of the itching. Now, for pinworms a dose of albendazole does have to be repeated 2 weeks after the first for cure. ...Read more
