Medicine For Oramorph Sr Allergy
Allergies occur when your immune system is triggered by envirionmental factors it should ignore--for example, pollen in the air, or dander on a cat or dog--and creates cells to fight against them. An allergic reaction typically causes itching, congestion, or drainage, and ...Read more
Dear 33-year-old: I keep seeing these questions from you. The definition of a morphine allergy is that you're allergic to morphine. In allergic response is a specific cascade of events that occurs when you've been sensitized to a certain chemical or protein. You can apply this answer to every other question you've asked about the definition of a blank allergy ...Read more

If Tramadol 100mg equates to 10mg of morphine, and oramorph 5ml the same. How come oramorph is considered stronger?
Concentration.: I think you need to be careful with the concentration of the oramorph, since 5ml does not give any indication of the amount. If it is 10mg/5ml, then certainly that is equivalent to 10mg of morphine, and roughly equal to 100mg of Tramadol. Keep in mind, however, that different people get different results from any medication. There is no absolute "strength" when it comes to pain control. ...Read more

MS Contin (morphine) = oramorph: There is no such thing as "stronger" or "weak" opioid medication, only those that work and don't work, based on the patient's individual circumstances and genetics. ...Read more
How do you know what dose of MS Contin (morphine) is needed? Is it the total amount of Oramorph used daily?
Depends on type: This is a question that should be answered strictly by your prescribing physician. Oramorph has a diff dosing sched than Oramorph SR. In general, total amount of morphine used per day should be equivalent. Ex. if you require 30 mg of Oramorph per day to adequately control your pain, the dosage of MS Contin should be 30 mg. Some drs., though give a specific amount of MS Contin w/a smaller rescue dose. ...Read more
Prescribed dose: Oramorph can be taken by different patients in greatly different doseages. The medication is safe at greatly varying dose but dependent on numerous factors. If you are asking about safe dose, my presumption is that your doctor has not prescribed a dose more than the 10mg you mentioned. You really need to explain to your MD that you are not getting pain relief so MD can give you safe/correct dose ...Read more
NO MAJOR ISSUE: Oramorph is merely a sustained release form of morphine, and unlikely to affect any variation of ms. Side effects can include constipation, drowsiness, maybe dizziness, and possible nausea. If you possess imbalance, the drug may cause additive issues, but these would be temporary. Primary progressive ms is tough to manage, and wish you the best. ...Read more

A good question: To ask your husband's doctor, rather than someone who has never met him, seen his lung function tests or cts. Ipf is a very difficult disease to treat, and currently nothing is known to be effective. Sometimes lung transplant is the answer, but it often trades one problem for another. Make sure he s seen b y someone with broad experience in treating ipf. Never shy away from a 2nd opinion. ...Read more
Probably too much:
Oramorph is much stronger, and shorter lasting, than tramadol, so it may work too well, for too short of a time.
It can be surprising, but sometimes these medicines do not work the same as you would expect. Their effects vary from person to person.
If tramadol usually worked, normally naproxen, amitriptyline or gabapentin would help for remaining pain. ...Read more
Oxycodone/fluoxetine: oxycodone will increase the level/effect of fluoxetine (affects enzyme CYP2D6 metabolism). Possible serious or life-threatening interaction. Monitor closely. Use alternatives if available. Opioids may enhance the serotonergic effects of SSRIs and increase risk for serotonergic syndrome. Oramorph is morphine. Talk with prescriber to review how meds affect you. Best regards for relief. ...Read more

Same receptor: One is a classic opioid (oramorph) another is called an opioid agonist, that works differently than a classic opioid but on the same pain receptor. I am not a fan of evidence based data, and have learned to rely on my own experience. I would some people do better with tapentadol (nucynta), some with classic opioid like oramorph. I would have to say they are potentially as effective as the other ...Read more
What would be a good med for me for breakthrough pain? Oramorph 10mg/5ml doesn't seem to help much.
No easy answer: As to be able to best guide you, one would ideally need to know more specifics about the exact causes of your pain, quality of your pain and what medications you have tried in the past. Sounds like you need the input of a pain specialist. Best of luck. ...Read more

I am currently on a fentanyl patch. Can I use dihydrocodeine or oramorph when the pain is very bad?
HIGHLY DEPENDS: Don't screw around with this medication! I have no idea what concentration you have in front of you and people CAN and DO die from its use. If it hasn't been prescribed by a physician to THAT patient CAREFULLY for the appropriate use it can and will be deadly. The dose that is lethal is SO variable that I cannot give you a specific number without knowing more about the exposed patient. Sorry. ...Read more
Have secondary ai, been prescribed oramorph 10mg/5ml for pain. Would 10ml dose affect me any more than anyone else? I also have slight asthma.
Caution with asthma: The medication should not necessarily have any stronger effect on you, although in general, different people may react differently to these types of medication. Caution is definitely advised in using morphine in the setting of lung diseases such as asthma though, mainly because of the risk of respiratory depression. ...Read more
