Medicine For Ondansetron Allergy
My doc says cos I'm allergic to ondansetron that I'm also allergic to antihistamines, what can I use for gritty itchy eyes due to spring allergies?
Huh?: Ondansetron allergy is very uncommon. I am no allergist, but there is no apparent overlap between the antihistamine H1 and H2 receptor and the antiemetic HT3 receptor that I am aware of. In addition, antihistamines have been used as part of the treatment of ondansteron allergy. I suggest you clear this up with your doc. ...Read more

The details of your child's history and past treatments are unknown, of course, but one could consider an alternative biologic. Each one is designed differently than others.

My face swells after taking ondansetron and my doc says im allergic to all anti nausea drugs now, is that right? Was it just a side affect?
Sounds like allergy. Ondansetron is a 5ht3 receptor antagonist and probably shares immunogenic potential with other members of the 5ht3 class. All those medications are antinauseants and all end in -setron, e.g. Granisetron.
There are many other anti nausea meds which work at different receptors and do not likely share any immunogenic potential. But Metoclopramide has some 5ht3 activity. ...Read more
What medicines are like Zofran (ondansetron) meaning prevent vomiting not only from chemo but also from gastroenteritis but prescription not needed in order to buy?
Not many good ones.: Most good anti-vomiting drugs require a prescription in the U.S. Zofran definitely requires one. For diarrhea and stomach upset from gastroenteritis, try Pepto Bismol or Kaopectate. Some of the antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Dramamine can also help with nausea. For severe nausea and vomiting, call a doctor or clinic for a prescription. ...Read more

Not without Dx.: Zofran (ondansetron) is for vomiting and Imodium is for diarrhea, and they can be taken together, BUT I would be sure you have a diagnosis that justifies their use.
