Medicine For Neurontin Overdose
My son took 5 Xanax bars (10mg) and several Neurontin (Approx. 2000 -3000mg). he's 27 w/high tolerance to both drugs. Can he overdose on this?
Neurontin (gabapentin) is in the class of anticonvulsants. I am not aware that it will cause a + drug screen. It does bind to the GABA receptor which is the same receptor a lot of sedatives affect.
If you are getting +tests for something have the lab ck the calibration of their equipment. ...Read more

What test is used to test soley for neurontin (gabapentin)? I recently took a ten panel urine drug screen, can they pull out of that 10 panel screen? Please help
Doubt it: Nobody, as far as I know, is testing for neurontin (gabapentin), (gabapentin) and there are no test kits designed for neurontin (gabapentin). If you are prescribed the drug, you have a right to take it. If you aren't, it is not a controlled substance. If you are using Neurontin (gabapentin) without a prescription, you need to talk to your doctor about a prescription for it. The Klonopin and percocet, however, will likely show up. ...Read more
Why would neurontin (gabapentin) show up in my drug screen if I'm not on it? I have never taken it and have no reason to take it. I only take methadone. Please help
False positive: It is possible to have cross reactivity on drug screening. This means that you are on one drug but it causes a positive reaction on the screening test for another drug. Gas chromatography and Mass Spectrometry can provide definitive testing in the sample. ...Read more
I just got lab results back from a drug test I took, and it said that I have Gapapentin in my system from taking Neurontin. I have never taken Neurontin. Why would this show up? I got in trouble for it and it is total nonsense. Please help!!!
Depends: Always tell your provider ALL medications that you're taking when providing urine drug samples. Different tests can pick up different meds/drugs so it's important to have everything listed so your results can be adequately interpreted. Provided they are prescribed for you, they should be ok to be in your urine ...Read more

I'm currently taking Neurontin (gabapentin) 300mg tid for neurogenic pain due to spinal issues. Is there any way to mitigate cognitive impairment from the drug?
Do drugs like elavil, Lyrica (pregabalin) and Neurontin for nerve pain all work the same or do they have different actions from one another?
I am on 50 mg tramadol and 300 mg Neurontin (gabapentin) for bilateral ulnar nerve compression. And am still in pain. Is there a better medicine? (no narcotics)
Ulnar neuropathy: Actually the dose of Gabapentin you are taking is low. We routinely start low to prevent side effects then titrate slowly to higher doses. Target doses for my patients can go into the 3000 mg per day range. If this fails then other meds lyrica, (pregabalin) Cymbalta are worth trying. Also may be worth having an ulnar injection to reduce nerve irritation. ...Read more
Which drug likely to cause skin eruption (3bumps on leg size of pencil eraser) uribel (taking as needed and 150mg Neurontin (gabapentin) 1x day for 9 months now?
Uribel & Gabapentin: Gabapentin would be more of the culprit than uribel though skin reactions are still much less common in general with gabapentin. Your skin eruptions are so very localized. I would expect to gabapentin to have caused a more diffuse skin reaction. Skin biopsy will give you more clarity. I would be surprised if your biopsy shows a direct link to gabapentin since you've been on it for 9 months. ...Read more

Is Neurontin (gabapentin) 300 mg po tid a very safe drug to take given for inflamed nerve after tooth extraction and otitis media and slite vertigo?
Neurontin (gabapentin): Neurontin (gabapentin) is an excellent medication for nerve pain related to the tooth extraction. The dosage of 300 mg three times a day is high for people not used to taking neurontin and you may feel drowsy and unbalanced. It is a safe drug and allergic reactions are uncommon. Some people will develop swelling in the extremities and weight gain over a few weeks of taking the medication. ...Read more
