There isn't one...: It is sad to say but we do not have any medicaction to prevent viral myocarditis. We actually have very few medication to treat viral infections--only available for hiv, herpes/chickenpox, hepb/c, and influenza. Fortunately these disease don't cause much problems with myocarditis, except hiv. Hiv can be treated. Get vaccines for influenza/chicken pox/hepb. Best is to keep healthy! . Good luck. I went through 4 days of extreme drug abuse, no sleep, and strenuous exercise that triggered some irritation in my heart. Could this be myocarditis?

Maybe: Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscles) may occur from a variety of sources. In addition to viral infections there are bacterial, fungal, parasitic, and other inciting organisms. In addition one can have cancerous myocarditis and also a variety of metabolic conditions can also cause this (hemochromatosis, e.g.). Cannot calculate the overall frequency with which these occur.
