Does fasting glucose reading of 104 is too high? Need to take medicine?Had miscarriage 3 weeks before. Please advise.
Borderline: A normal fasting blood sugar (FBS) in a non pregnant woman is less than 100. Since the hormonal changes of pregnancy may have affected the fasting blood sugar, would suggest repeating the test in about 6 weeks. Maintaining a normal weight is the first line in getting the FBS below 100. ...Read more

5wks shows only gest sac in ultrasound dr prescribed cobal f and aspocid 75mg daily will this medicine affect my baby I have a history of miscarriage?
Meds seem OK 4 baby: Only sac is OK @5w, baby is too small to see, follow up sono in 1-2w. Cobal F is OK in pregnancy (in US we recommend prenatal multivit's). Aspocid (low dose Aspirin) is given to you probably due to the history of miscarriage. It shouldn't harm you baby but rather is hoped to prevent the loss. You may ask your doctor to explain rational behind it. Suspected or real THROMBOPHILIA may be the reason. ...Read more
My wife has been taking dexamethasone for about a week to prevent miscarriage. We read some troubling research about the drug and want to stop. Should we stop at once or gradually decrease the dosage?
Yes,: A pregnant shouldn't as a general rule take no medication, illicit or not during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester. One glass of wine with dinner not a problem. If there is a compelling need to use a drug, the benefit vs the risk must be weighed by a specialist (high-risk obstetrician). If your planning travelling to an endemic malaria part of the world---fagetaboutit, seriously! ...Read more

Pregnant for one month. Had one early miscarriage before. Afraid a lot. took rest and medicine. How long I have any further risk of miscarriage?
A couple of months: You are correct that the risk of miscarriage is much greater early in pregnancy. Remember that by the time you miss your period, you are already at week 4 of the 40 week pregnancy. At that time the estimate of miscarriage is about 25 to 30%. But a mere 4 weeks later, at week 8, the estimates are that miscarriage is down to 2-3% likelihood. Then is stays low. Good luck! ...Read more

Go see a doctor: Go find a good endocrinologist or diabetologist. You need to get your diabetes under control to ensure a healthy pregnancy. You should probably go on Insulin therapy.
