Low k last week (3.0 mmol/l). Taking chlorthalidon 25mg and added Klor-Con m20 20 meq 2tid. Lost 6 lbs fluid. Will BP improve? Run 3x/wk hot weather.
Legs started aching after taking Klor-Con so i stopped. Dr ordered blood work and eveything looked fine but its been 6 days and legs still ache. Why?
Likely unrelated: For that long, with normal labs, likely an unrelated coincidence. Would talk to your dr and give re-trial if still need the supplement while monitoring for any worsening in discomfort. Otherwise, would try stretches / soaks / local heat and your dr might have physical therapy evaluation done. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Is a potassium level of 3.6 low enough (while on lasix) to justify taking Klor-Con 8, or can you just eat more foods with potassium in them?
Depends: It depends on 1)whether you're prone to arrhythmias (if so, you need to have a higher potassium) 2) if going up, down or is stable 3) was your dose of Lasix (furosemide) recently increased? If your renal function is ok, a better drug than potassium is spironolactone which is a small pill, easy to swallow, cheap as water, corrects low potassium, and is good for cardiac function. ...Read more
Potassium level 3.0, occasional flutters in chest. Prescribed Klor-Con 10 to treat. Safe to have sex?
Low potassium: As a 29 year old female, you are a on 3 different BP meds. The onethat may be causing your low potassium (k), is the hctz (hydrochlorothiazide). Hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) wastes not only k but magnesium as well (m) in the urine. Patients with a m deficit will not raise their k level to normal until they raise their m level. Have your m level checked and replete it to see if you k will increase. I would discuss your question of sex with md. ...Read more

DR prescribed Monopril 5mg, HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) 12.5mg & KLOR-CON 4mg for mild, longtime HTN. My potassium levels are normal. Is KLOR-CON necessary or risky?
Im taking Klor-Con cause i went to ER and found out I have very low potassium. I've been taking meds since wed and now my legs are starting to ache?
This is serious: Do you have hypokalemic periodic paralysis? Low potassium is life-threatening. Did you accidentally take a diuretic? Do you have diarrhea caused by a potassium-wasting colon tumor? Your physician has a duty to let you know exactly what is going on, and you have a duty to yourself to demand a full explanation rather than just "take this pill." you're here now; go back & be proactive! ...Read more
