An endoscopy revealed inflammation in my stomach's lining. I don't have acid reflux, just discomfort. Antacids safe? Any natural alternatives?
What's the cause?: You're describing "gastritis." Stomach inflammation may derive from both acid & non-acid causes, slow emptying of the stomach, H.pylori infection, atrophic & hypersecretory problems, indiscrete use of NSAID's &/or alcohol, to name a few. Typical scenario: Since we don't do any kind of bowel prep any more for routine CT scans, this kind of scenario is common. If the radiologist thinks the bowel looks a little too think, they will likely put in a statement like that as a hedge against potential pathology (and lawsuit). The thing is, could it be cancer?
