Medicine For Flagyl Allergy
Allergies occur when your immune system is triggered by envirionmental factors it should ignore--for example, pollen in the air, or dander on a cat or dog--and creates cells to fight against them. An allergic reaction typically causes itching, congestion, or drainage, and ...Read more

WATER & DRUG ELIMIN.: Medications are removed from the body by the kidney or the liver. If a drug is water soluble, normally the kidney is responsible for its elimination. Drinking lots of water will hasten this process. This is not so much the case in drugs that are metabolized by the liver and are fat soluble. ...Read more
Great question: There is no easy answer to this question... Flagyl is indicated for two very different vaginal conditions. One is a sexually transmitted infection that requires your partner be treated prior to cessation of condom use. The other is called BV and is not an std but is sexually associated. Couples experiencing this condition tend to experience recurrences (even same sex couples) despite treatment. ...Read more
I have been diagnosed, for entamoeba trophozoites for many times I have been treated by Flagyl is there any more effective drug to avoid recurrence?
Recur or persist?: Food and water precautions are best to keep new cases away not drugs. If you are talking about a persistent case, there has been some rare emerging resistance first seen in mexico and bangkok. Higher doses Flagyl are sometimes used with additional medication to clear such cases. Some forms of entamoeba are not the case of diarrhea at all and only along for the ride-get seen. ...Read more
Yes and no.: It will no longer be extended relief. The dose will need be split into two. ...Read more

I was treated long term for BV with 500 mg of matronidazole (flagyl) for 3 months. If I had pid, would the medicine have gotten rid of the PID also?
Perhaps: Flagyl is notorious for causing a spectrum of gastrointestinal side effects. And, ironically, this agent is commonly used for gastrointestinal infections, the most common being that of c. Difficile. This is an infection that was generally considered nosocomial (hospital acquired), but now is not uncommon in ambulatory patients. I would call your md to discuss as gallstones may need to be ruled out. ...Read more

What are the drugs to treat chronic PID? There is water in the ovary and the belly is swollen. Took Flagyl & doxcyclin in the past. Advise, the drugs
This depends upon...: If you have an IUD in place, a partner who is reinfecting you and what organisms are causing the problem. If you want to cover most things, metronidazole and doxycycline are excellent. A penicillin or clindamycin is beneficial in some cases and fluconazole is often needed as yeast can also proliferate and cause PID as well. IUDs need to be removed, and partner treated. Doc must culture the vagina. ...Read more

20 weeks pregnant and diagnosed with BV for third time. OB prescribed a third course of flagyl. Is this safe? This will be my third week of taking this medicine.
Should be safe: Flagyl (metronidazole) is a category B drug, meaning that there is no evidence for risk to human fetuses. However, I am concerned that this will be your third course and you still have the infection. You may want to talk to your doc about trying oral Clindamycin as an alternative drug. The topical Clindamycin is not recommended in the second half of pregnancy. This is also category B. ...Read more

? UTI untreated: Need to get urine culture with sensitivities as original UTI may have been resistant to original antibiotic. Does Flagyl/metronidazole 500mg medication have HCG in it? Can this drug cause a false positive pregnancy test?
Is Flagyl safe during the second trimester? Will it cause fetal loss? 20 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with BV. Is this medicine okay to take?
What does safe mean?: Presumably your doc told you to take it because you have BV. The most dangerous time of a pregnancy is the first 1/3. That is when all the organs are being laid down. After that they get bigger. Everything in medicine involves a risk/benefit analysis. What benefits do I hope to gain versus what risks am I taking. Nothing in life is risk free but yr doc thinks the benefit out ways the risks. ...Read more
Was prescribed Flagyl. Bad side effects. Diarrhea, nausea, no appetite, weird taste, change in urine and fecal color (slightly orange). Feeling better though. Was prescribed the medicine to treat giardia or bacteria. Should I contiune? 2 days left.
Ask your doc: Seriously, ask your prescribing doc whether you should stop or not, if you consider side effects that bad. Ironically, you report diarrhea as a side effect but presumably, you also state that you were prescribed medication to treat Giardia which is known cause of diarrhea. Regardless, it's always best to report side effects to prescribing doc so that s/he can help you decide whether to stop/change ...Read more
