Have all symptoms to menieres diease. But I've been tested by ENT and its not menieres. What could it be?

It can still be: Meniere's disease is a paroxysmal, positional transient vertigo similar to benign positional vertigo but accompanied by episodic deafness, ringing in ears, or stuffiness ofone ear. If there is deafnees it affect low tones. Lesions in brain stem do not produce episodic symptoms. Get a good audiometric study (pure tones and speech) and a brain stem evoked potential test. I have pet, patulous eustation tube? Not sure on the spelling. Do I have to live with this? Question for ent. Rare disorder.

Rare as you said: This disorder can be quite bothersome to those who have it. If I had it I would try and be seen by dr denis s poe in boston. Very few surgeons have done as much work on the eustachian tube disorders. Depending how much it is bothering you, it might be worthwhile to see him. I have sent patients to him in the past and they are happy to have seen him. Hope this helps! ...Read more

My mom has been diagnosed with tinnitus. ENT gave her nurokind and tinnex. Will these medicines cure or are they just relief. Help and thanks?

No and yes: These are questions you or your mother should have asked the ENT or he/she should have answered them without being asked. ENT may have actually done so but you or your mother didn't register the answer. Pts often swear doc never told them anything even after LONG & DETAILED counseling in the office. Answers are no & yes: there is no cure & few if any effective treatments. Ask ENT for more info. ...Read more

Sir I consulted for second opinion and now the other ENT doctor has asked me not to opt for surgery insted he prescribed me with medicines for 45 days?

Reasonable: Treatment with antibiotics is the standard first-line treatment for patients with sinusitis. Amox-clav or Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) (what you were given) for 2-3 weeks is an ideal first option. Other possible medications could be oral steroids, with allergy medication/sprays as and adjunct. Surgery is reserved for recalcitrant disease that does not reposed to multiple antibiotic courses. Follow up is needed. ...Read more

Had good tump jan1-14 for bph. Taking no drugs. Now ENT has me on 0.25 mg Xanax (alprazolam) 3 x day for unrelated issue. Can this have any neg. Impact on the tumt?

No: If the TUMT (transurethral microwave therapy)of the prostate worked well in your case (it does not always give v.good results), which I think you mean by "tumt" then the xanax (alprazolam) would be OK. ...Read more

Looking for info on sphenoid sinus disease/surgery for 8 yr old. Ped ENT observed for 1 yr & has worsened, now surgery. How rare is this procedure?

It depends: Sphenoid sinus disease that causes symptoms such as headaches should be operated on if it does not respond to antibiotics. If there are no symptoms, it probably isn't necessary to do surgery unless the doctor is concerned that there is a mass in the sinus, instead of just swelling or infection. ...Read more

I have some tinnitus after UTI treatment. My ENT gives piracetam and tebonin. Will it be fine? I'm a little afraid of eat too many medicine/caps

Tinnitus not serious: In most cases. Don't know why piracetam was prescribed, efficacy to treat anything let alone tinnitus is questionable. There are claims that tebonin might have some effect. Best to diagnose cause & treat that. Certainly discontinue any meds which might have caused it. White noise machine can help to reduce tinnitus to help with sleep. Amytryptyline or nortriptylene can help? Consult other ENT dr. ...Read more

ENT said - Migraine Neuro said - Phobic vertigo since BPPV Homeopath said - Meniere's disease (Audiogram was normal) How to find out which one I have?

Difficult: Phobic vertigo is a triggered response to anxiety that causes symptoms but no loss of function, meniere's disease includes an actual loss of hearing acuity which is measurable, including other signs and symptoms. Migraines are diagnosed clinically. Making a definitive diagnosis would be difficult since much if the diagnosis of all of these is subjective ...Read more

Chances of tonsil cancer in a 27 year old that has autoimmune disease; who is a non smoker? Ent and primary has seen my unilateral tonsils, no concern

I would not worry: If your ENT is not worried, you should not worry.

Doctors are like the workman who only has a hammer and to whom everything looks like a nail. If that workman tells you that you don't have a nail, you can be darned sure you don't have a nail.

Your ENT takes out tonsils. If he tells you your tonsils don't need taking out, they don't need taking out. ...Read more

Some red spots on my tongue as swelling, so what type of medicines and doctor consult (dentist, ent etc) good for me. And also white layer build on?

Thrush?: The way you are describing the lesion I would think it's Thrush, a fungus infection,
Not only the treatment needed for it, the cause for it needs to be found. It's very unusual to have Thrush in Immunocompetent people, although stress, Diabetes and some medication could cause that.
You can see a Family Medicine doctor or an Internist. ...Read more
