How long does a allergic reaction from a shingle vaccine last, and ca I take allergy meds and use hydrocortisone?
Don't know: Since the Zoster vaccine has been around for about a decade, the long-term efficacy can only be ascertained by experience. Theoretically it should last a life-time but practically only time will time. Since it is a live vaccine, you need to inform your doctor about this if you are on high-dose oral steroid (not topical or inhaled steroid) before getting the vaccine. Allergy medication is fine. ...Read more

For the past few days my left wrist has been very itchy. I have a bad nickel allergy so no jewelry. I tried lotion, Olux, and Cortizone (hydrocortisone) and no relief.
What is your exposur: This brings up the question of what you may be exposed to now that you are not aware of. What is the best medicine product I can use if I have posin oak or ivy? Is hydrocortisone a good one?
Does low dose cortef (hydrocortisone) heal the adrenals, helping the patient to feel well again and enabling them to eventually go off the drug? Non-addison's.
No: Taking any dose of steroid causes the adrenal glands to work less, as the pituitary gland regulates your adrenal hormone level. If your adrenal glands truly do not work, you need lifelong adrenal hormone replacement. However, I see people who have been diagnosed with "adrenal fatigue". This is not a true medical diagnosis. Most of these people have no adrenal problem at all. ...Read more
