Other than claritin/loratadine, there are other non-sedating antihistamines such as allergra (fexofenadine). Zyrtec (cetirizine) (ceterizine) is generally non-sedating although ~5% feel sedated with it. ...Read more

Safe but...: It may last that long but may not be potent enough to control your hives. You may need to up the dose to 4x daily. It is unusual however to develop hives from taking any kind of antihistamine and thus I would suggest that you consult an allergist to sort this out. ...Read more
