Talk with the doctor about how they came to this conclusion and your thoughts/feelings about it. Many, if not most mental/emotional disorders are lacking objective, biologically based definitive tests. It makes it hard for you and the doctor - so work together on both diagnosis & treatment. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Will Vyvanse's mood destabilizing effects (bipolar I disorder) be reduced over time at a constant dosage (30mg)? Taking 30mg Abilify (aripiprazole) to compensate.
Monitor Carefully: Stimulants like Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) can be very helpful in patients with mood disorders and ADHD, but they can also be highly variable in their effect--in other words, time will tell for you, and you alone, how effective this will be. If possible try and include as many people as you can in your "circle of trust" to help monitor your progress. ...Read more

Anxiety and Bipolar: I am wondering what mood stabilizer you're taking for your bipolar disorder, because none is listed in your medications. I see you're taking wellbutrin, (bupropion) which in itself causes anxiety in some people and could expose you to the risk of hypomania or mania. Please talk with your psychiatrist about this -- you may be leaving out some of your medications, or they may need to be re-evaluated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Challenging question: It is well-known that insomnia is a trigger for mania and rapid cycling, hence it is important to combat that. Even though sleep md's don't recommend antihistamines for sleep, they can work and are otc. The bigger issues: 1: you need to be working with your md. 2: some drug co's make their products available to you, free of charge-ask your md how. 3: your md may have samples of certain meds. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
