My allergy medicine is not working. I am taking cetrizin HCL antihistamine. I also took benadryl (diphenhydramine) and loratadine tablet but not working. At night time while sleeping feel ok but once you get up and move then symptom comes back.

See physician: A 51 year old male with allergy symptoms taking cetirizine, benadryl, (diphenhydramine) and loratadine without improvement. See an allergist to determine what you are allergic to and also to determine if there is something else going on, like a sinus infection. Add a nasal steroid spray (OTC Flonase or Nasacort) twice a day as well. ...Read more

Saline nasal allergy spray called asteoto. It's main ingredient is azelastine hcl. Could that show up on my drug test?

No, but sedating: Tons of meds cause false-positive results in drug tests. It depends on the actual testing reagents. Here's just one ex: http://www. Pharmacologyweekly. Com/articles/drug-classes-cause-false-positive-urine-drug-screen. Be honest reporting all meds, even if they won't show. Your antihistamine drops are considered sedating, so may be prohibited if you are a pilot/ATC. Consider montelukast. Works well. ...Read more

Which is better for nasal allergies: levocetirizine or cetirizine hcl?

Whichever works: For you would be the best to use, although it treats only one aspect of the disease, nasal itching and runny nose, won't affect congestion, also during an allergy season you need to take it on regular, not on as needed basis, in the end if you are not controlled you need to see an allergist ...Read more

Which is better for a nasal allergy levocetrizine or ceteizine hcl?

Not much: Although levo ceterizine is a third generation antihistamine, there is little difference between that drug and ceterizine (zyrtec). They are both fairly non-sedating antihistamines and are approved for allergic rhinitis. Their efficacy and safety are essentially the same. ...Read more

Is is possible that continuous consumption of cetrizine HCl (10-20mg), has now caused it to have no affect on my allergies? Thanks.

Is is possible that continuous consumption of cetrizine HCl (10-20mg), has now caused it to have no affect on my allergies? Thanks.

Maybe: Sometimes my patients who have been on a particular anti-histamine, like zyrtec, for a long time stop responding. I will have them switch to Allegra (fexofenadine) which has helped some of them. The other possibility is that your symptoms are not being caused by allergies, and you should be evalutlated by your doctor. ...Read more

I was prescribed Vistaril (hydroxyzine) to take as needed for anxiety. Can I also take Cetirizine HCl with it for my seasonal allergies?

I was prescribed Vistaril (hydroxyzine) to take as needed for anxiety. Can I also take Cetirizine HCl with it for my seasonal allergies?

Not best combo: Can make u drowsy. Likely got prescribed vistaril (hydroxyzine) as it also helps with allergies/itching. Bug there are too many other medications more effective than vistaril (hydroxyzine). I also suggest u see a clinical psychologist or License Clinical Social Worker for the anxiety. Look into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy=CBT. ...Read more

I take Sertraline HCL 50 MG and Trazodone 150 MG Is it ok to take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) allergy liqui-Gels 25 MG with the other meds?

I take Sertraline HCL 50 MG and Trazodone 150 MG Is it ok to take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) allergy liqui-Gels 25 MG with the other meds?

For what?: All meds have potential adverse effects and the more meds you are on increases this risk. Both sertraline and trazodone are antidepressants, but you are likely taking trazodone for sleep and these 2 are not an uncommon combo. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is also sedating. If you need Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for allergies talk to your doc about tapering down trazodone. Also consider seeing an allergist ...Read more

I took a180mg Fexofenadrine HCL this morning due to severe allergies (sneezing excessively and excessively runny nose) and it hasn't helped. What now?

Need more guns: Allegra may not be enough to treat "severe" allergies alone. Depending on your symptoms you may need more guns such as a nasal spray and/or a decongestant. If your allergies are so severe and a good medical regimen is not working you should talk to your doc about immunization shots which build a resistance to your specific allergy trigger. ...Read more

Been taking pseudophedrine HCl 60mg every 4-6 hrs for past 3 days due the flu. I have to take a drug test on monday. Will I test positive for meth?

No: If drug tests are properly done, the initial test is a screening test, which then must be confirmed with more complex and sophisticated testing. Screening tests may show positive for amphetamine with use of sudafed and other decongestants, but the confirmatory tests will not be positive. If whoever is doing the test does not do confirmatory testing, you should seek your legal options if positive. ...Read more

Promethazine: Promethazine is a drug that is used to manage common cold, allergic reactions and is sometimes combined with other drugs, such as dextromethorphan, to suppress cough (see the link below). It belongs to a class of drugs known as antihistaminics. Promethazine has many side effects and several important drug-drug interactions. One important side effect is drowsiness, which can become significant at higher doses. Operating machinery or driving may become dangerous while taking promethazine. Overdose of Promethazine could result in respiratory arrest and death. Other sedatives such as alcohol, narcotics, tricyclic antidepressants enhance the sedating properties of promethazine. Administration of Promethazine has been associated with reported cholestatic jaundice. Edema (swelling) has also been associated with promethazine. From your description it appears that you may be having potentially serious side effects of this medication. You should stop taking it and see a doctor. ...Read more
