Tonsilitis: In adults, most cases of tonsillitis are viral, and therefore do not need to be treated. In this case, care measures such as salt water gargles, Tylenol (acetaminophen) (which is safe), lozenges and a humidifier may be helpful. In cases of bacterial tonisilitis, penicillin is the treatment of choice and is safe to use in pregnancy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Call the Ob-Gyn Dr.: A 31-week pregnant woman with a tummy that gets hard can call her Ob-Gyn doctor and go get examined at the doctor's office or at the hospital's labor and delivery ward. The doctor will be checking for preterm labor, which can lead to a preterm birth (and all the problems that come with premature babies). Preterm labor is serious, so it is important to be examined by an experienced physician. ...Read more

Is lower back pain near pelvic area normal, and how will i know if burning in vagina area is already UTI w/o urinalysis in 31 weeks pregnancy?
You can't know: for sure without an exam and a urinalysis. It is important to get a diagnosis and treatment since you are pregnant. If you can't get to a clinic/lab over the weekend, you can drink lots of cranberry juice. You can also clean yourself off VERY well, go into a clean cup or jar and check for any odor. Leave it at room temp overnight, if not infected, it should still be clear and nearly odorless. ...Read more

Sushi & pregnanc: Sushi should be avoided during pregnancy for two reasons. (1) risk of bacterial infection complicating the pregnancy. (2) risk of exposure to mercury complicating the pregnancy. Certainly not worth the risk during pregnancy. Cooked sushi or vegetable-only sushi should be fine, but then we'd worry about the person making the sushi having washed his hands after handling raw fish. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I'm 34 weeks and 5 days pregnant my baby is measuring 31 weeks and 1 day an weighs 3pds 14oz. What do you think my Dr will do when he sees this info?
Depends...: Which antibiotic is used for a new toxoplasmosis infection in pregnancy depends on if the infection has spread to the baby or not. Special testing is needed to know this. If it hasn't spread to the baby, Spiramycin is often used. It doesn't cross the placenta so risk to baby is minimal. If baby is infected, Pyrimethamin is used as it crosses the placenta. Best wishes! ...Read more
