Medicine For 100 Degrees Or More
You need a new plan: There is no safe way to give yourself a fever. Having a fever means your body is working to fight off an infection or because something is not "right." A fever is the body reacting to something going on inside it. So, it's not something you can give yourself intentionally. ...Read more
I live in Texas and it gets very hot in the summer (over 100 degrees sometimes). Will this change the effectiveness of my bcp? If it's in the heat?
Generally no.: BUT medications have a disclaimer on the box in the fine print which will outline the appropriate storage conditions. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations as closely as you can and never store medications above your stove, on the hearth, on your dashboard or in direct sunlight ...Read more
After receiving one gardasil shot, I had a fever of 100 degrees and general malaise for a week. Should I get the additional doses?
I do not recommend this vaccine. It causes many serious side effects and has absolutely no proven long-term benefits. See

Do I have fever? I feel hot and cold and I sweat some of the time. I took my temperature and it kept changing anywhere from 97-100 degrees.
Depends: Fever suggests the infant is ill but is not all that reliable in predicting the severity or danger of an illness. A better symptom to use to gauge the need for a visit is how the infant is acting. One bothersome symptom is unusual lethargy and being difficult to arouse. This requires a visit regardless of fever. By the way fever is generally defined as a rectal temperature of 100.4f or greater. ...Read more

Do I have the flue if I am not coughing and my temperature does not go over 100 degrees? I still have headache, body aches, and slight dizziness.
My son had his 9 month check up on 4/28/16 and got a Hep B shot. Starting the next day he has had a fever (3 days now) around 100 degrees. We are giving him tylonal but the fever is not going away. Any suggestions?
Waste of effort: I don't consider 100 a fever and certainly not enough to warrant any treatment. The kid may be winy and pissed that his shot hurt and is sore for a few days but I would ignore this and concentrate on keeping the kid distracted. The effect will wear off over time. If he does develop a real fever it wouldn't have anything to do with this shot, but may reflect an exposure to a new illness. ...Read more
Following my last question I now have a fever of over 100 degrees and sharp pain in the upper right side of my stomach should I go to the hospitol?
Maybe you should...: Persistent abdominal pain for more than six hours, especially with a fever, increases the likelihood that it is something that will require antibiotics or surgery. Pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen is most commonly related to gall bladder pain, especially if it increases with eating fatty foods. ...Read more
My husband is 64, had a lowgrade fever of 100 degrees f, and extreme fatigue. His right elbow is red, hot, and swollen.
Seek care: The elbow is a complicated part of the body, and infections can spread to the joint, the bones, or the bursa. He needs to be evaluated to see if he needs antibiotics, cultures, or other management. I hope he feels better soon. ...Read more

My 13 year old daughter has been hurting for 2 days in her stomach right below her ribs. Now she is running fever 100 degrees? Fever, and pain?
See a doctor.: Hurting below the ribs could indicate many things, but I worry about a swollen liver or spleen--since fever is now present, too. Mono would require a physical exam and a lab test to diagnose. Hepatitis or gallbladder problems may require an evaluation as well. It would be in your daughter's best interest to have this evaluated by her pediatrician or family doctor--for peace of mind if nothing else. ...Read more

Why is the skin in between my butt cheeks peeling? I recently started working out more (3 miles a day) and I live in a hot Southern California city of 90-100 degrees in Oct., and I had a yeast infection under my breasts and my butt. The yeast infection ha
Intertrigo: "Yeast infection" is not a true infection. There may be a proliferation of yeasts as well as other microorganisms, but the basic situation is sweating and chaffing. Anti inflammatory such as hydrocortisone + azole such as miconazole cream are very effective therapy in addition to ventilation and a shower. Avoid scrubbing. ...Read more

Lately I've been so exhausted, tired, and restless. Accompanied with a mild fever, mild nausea, and feeling anxious. It's been a couple of weeks now.
Unlikely: I think you are asking about oral sex. When herpes is transmitted in this fashion it usually produces a classic rash with blister-like lesions which break down and form small very painful shallow ulcers. This may be accompanied by fever, malaise, etc., but it sounds like you may have a cold. Depending on the type of oral sex HIV can reach the tonsils if ejaculate hits the throat. ...Read more

Can a severe UTI cause symptoms of no burning during urination, at end intense pressure / pain at meatus followed by blood. No fever. Mild back pain?
Unlikely: Severe bacterial utis are commonly associated with dysuria (burning). You can have any number of problems ranging from prostatitis to bladder cancer. Please seek attention as soon as possible. ...Read more
Been having, cough, slight fever, mild soar throat, & green mucus in the morning for 2 W now. Would antibiotics help in this case. Any recommendation?
Treat symptoms: Sounds as if you have a mild viral infection, and bed rest, fluids, Aspirin or Acetaminophen (tylenol, etc.) may help. If things get worse see your doctor because a more serious problem may be developing. Have you been around others with similar symptoms? Do you have children, are they in day care? Hope you get better and feel well soon. ...Read more
