How does Biobita supposedly help children with Autism?

How does Biobita supposedly help children with Autism?

Not a cure: Biobita is a combination of probiotics and vitamins. While it can help the GI tract, there is no definitive evidence that it will help autism. The claims are testimonials without research back up other than describing research that was not autism specific. With that said if your child has problems with pain, chronic constipation or diarrhea, making him irritable, Biobita may help that and his mood ...Read more

Please explain which food to give to children with autism?

Please explain which food to give to children with autism?

Green and organic: Any child can be sensitive to artificial ingredients. I think the biggest offenders are artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. So as organic as you can reasonably find is good. Other than that, unless they have an allergy to a food, give them whatever they will eat. The gfcf diet usually does not improve autism unless there are gastrointestinal problems. ...Read more

Is anyone finding good info on natural ways to help autism in our children?

Yes: I am and so are other physicians i know. I have had good experiences with chinese medicine, homeopathy, gluten free/casein free diet, supplements and of course therapies. I have had patients experience significant improvement. I actually have two patients (who were high functioning to begin with) have their diagnosis of autism removed. While that is unusual, it shows it can happen. ...Read more

PDD-NOS: The diagnostic and statistical manual iv-text revision defines pervasive developmental disorder as having some, but not all, of the criteria for autism. Do children with autism have bigger heads?

Do children with autism have bigger heads?

Sometimes: Children who go on to develop autism can experience an acceleration in the growth of head circumference around 6 to 12 months of age. However, the overlap between this and normal head growth is so large that it is not useful information as far as diagnosing a particular person. ...Read more

Abilify (aripiprazole) for symptoms: In my experience, Abilify (aripiprazole) can often ameliorate the irritability of some children who have a diagnosis of autism. Why many older children with autism are fascinated with baby and game shows?

Why many older children with autism are fascinated with baby and game shows?

I think it's from: Both the delays in social development + perseverative interest in anything that's preferred. The simplistic language of pre-school shows is delivered in high-pitched, emphatic, repetitive " snippets", great for delayed echolalia. Age-appropriate shows have confusing complex language ; social interactions. Game shows have sound effects, short verbal interchange, rolling credits ; catchy music. ...Read more
