TRAUMA OR NOT?: HI! Swelling of both ankle areas simultaneously without known trauma ie: jumping off of something and landing hard on both feet can be due to a systemic problem. Possibilities include: lymphedema, arthritis which can be osteo, rheumatoid, gouty attack, other accompanying signs/symptoms, etc. , pregnancy, infection, blood clot,medication, heart -liver - kidney problems. Run: You may exercise as you can tolerate. It is good that you exercise. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. The : The swelling may be due to the wrap preventing appropriate circulation and fluid return in the lower leg. We call this edema. I would recommend that you see your primary care doctor for evaluation of your knee injury to rule out a sprain or tear in the supporting structures. It is unlikley that you have a clot in your leg but this can also be assessed. ...Read more
