Mederma Vs Vitamin E Oil For Scars
Scar on my face by a cut last month, they removed stitches 2 week agoShould I apply Mederma or Vitamin E, Coco butter or just leave it there?
Not much: Unfortunately, most scar treatments offer only marginal improvement over doing nothing at all. The biggest problem with the area around the lips is the amount of dynamic motion and tension that is created on the wound, which lends to a problematic scar. I find the biggest factor is the amount of surgical debridement of injured tissue affects the outcome of the scar. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Don't bother with E.: Vitamin e doesn't have any benefit on scars - and many people actually get an allergic reaction & rash from it. There are much better products available - try a silicone based scar product, like kelocoat, biodermis, or similar. These actually have proof that they work! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
If i put 28, 000iu of vitamin E oil on my scars every night, how long will it take before they diminish or go away?
Never: Vitamin ee may be a good moisturizing agent but there is very little research to show it will improve scars other than the effects of massaging it in and certainly it will not remove it. ...Read more
No: The oiliness will make them slightly less visible while it stays on your skin. I'm really sorry that your acne didn't get treated when it should have been. Nothing you can do will affect your scars, but a dermatologist can make them less visible with dermabrasion, filler, laser or microsurgery. It's your choice; especially if you're a man, note that several hollywood leads kept their for "tough". ...Read more
For how to get rid of eczema scars and found out that vitamin E oil helps. But i was just wondering, is it good for all skin types?
Is it true that rubbing vitamin E oil onto acne blemishes and scars will make them go away and prevent future breakouts?
Not effective: Acne scars are forever. Vitamin e oil in my experience is not good at treating these scars. The most effective means to treat acne scars (there are 3 types of acne scars) is usually to have skin resurfacing with an instrument called fraxel. You will need several treatments and they aren't cheap, but they are among the most effective and safest ways to treat acne scars. ...Read more
Possible: There is no proven scar healer out there that I am aware of, keeping the area clean and soft should help with decreasing the amount of scar build up. I have always thought that sunblock for the first year on a scar is important to avoid excessive scarring as sun damage can exacerbate a scar. Most scars overtime though do improve, the body usually does a good job at healing itself. ...Read more
3 1/2 months since i grazed my face on asphalt. Still a brown/red mark but is it road rash? will vitamin E scar serum/bio oil help and make it go?
Healing abrasion: It seems like 3.5 months is a long time for these marks to persist, but that time frame is very common. Road rash is used to generally describe any abrasion that results from a sports injury, usually from bicycle/motorcycle riding. There are individual reports that vitamin E serum/bio oil may help with scarring, but it is not universally endorsed. It will gradually fade.Did you get tetanus updated ...Read more
Is it safe to use silicone gel/sheets or vitamin E oil for scar treatment while breastfeeding? will either help with a keloid?
Safe but ineffective: While these are indeed safe to use while breastfeeding, spend the money buying a toy or cute outfit for your new baby as they will not be very effective in treating keloids. See a dermatologist for more appropriate options for your keloids. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Depends how you use : I'm guessing you're asking about topical application of all of those things. First i would consider making sure that you're taking some supplements internally, such as omegas, vitamin d, and beta carotene, they help heal skin from inside out. Tea tree oil will help heal infected skin. Vitamin e moisturizes skin, and vitamin c helps add antioxidants to skin, which may reduce scarring. ...Read more
