My wife been diagonsed with hypothyroidism. She has been prescribed for sodium thyroxine. We are looking for that medicine from vegetarian source ?

It is vegetarian: All sodium levothyroxine is derived from vegetarian sources so no need to look any further. The only animal-derived thryoid medicines are thyroid glandular extracts like Armour Thyroid and nature-throid. Most who are hypothyroid also benefit from liothyronine, which is also vegetarian- see http://thyroid.About.Com/od/t3treatment/tp/t4-t3-thyroid-treatment.Htm & http://bit.Ly/15k26u8 for more info. ...Read more

Thyroxine sodium vs levothyroxine. Which one is more effective?

The bioavailability of each thyroid preparation is a little different. If you switch from one form to another, your thyroid numbers may change, and you may start to feel hypo or hyper. Sometimes pharmacists switch you to save $. ...Read more

Why do we use sodium flouride instead of calcium flouride in our toothpastes, mouthwashes etc? It's much less toxic than sodium flouride.

Sodium and stannous fluorides are able to be broken down and then the fluorides can enter into and bond with the enamel. Enamel is made of a ring of ions and the Fluoride substitutes in the center to form a more stable ring. This new "ring" is more resistant to decay. ...Read more
