Measles Antibody Igm
Hello, I need help understanding the results of my measles-immunity-blood-test. On the result sheet it is indicated that the normal value for both igm and igg is <9. My igg value is 24.7, which I presume means that I have immunity to measles . My igm val
Is it psoooble to still have a baby of I have german measles and my tests reflect positive for IgG and igm?
Confusing question: If you are pregnant & the rubella igm and igg are both positive, the fetus likely has congenital rubella and may have any of it's many complications. If you are not pregnant but had a recent case or shot for rubella, the numbers tell us your body is developing immunity & future pregnancies should be protected from the virus. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My rubella Igg came out positive and im 19weeks pregnant. Is this mean that i had measles in my first 3weeks of pregnancy? My igm is non reactive.
Unlikely: The IgM will eventually drop off a month or two after primary infection so absence at 19 weeks doesn't tell you much about early pregnancy. Unless you were ill with rubella during that period I would not expect it.This pair of tests are often done in pregnancy and your results is what they expect from someone who received the vaccine as a kid or had the disease before pregnancy. ...Read more

Core ab +be. Igm -ve. Surface antigen -ve. Surface ab +ve. E antigen -ve. E antibody +be. I was vaccinated for hepetitis b in 1996.Explain.
Remote infection: Igm is the first class of antibody made to a microbe and after several months the immune system starts to make igg class of antibodies and then the immune system stops making igm. If all that is found is igg to a particular microbe it means that you were infected over about 6 months to many years previously. ...Read more

Antibodies: This is a major class of antibody secreted into the blood in the early stages of primary response to the infection. The highest levels should be observed in the acute infection and then gradually subside. However, in human autoimmune disorders certain forms of igm could be consistently elevated. Certain abnormal igms (cryoglobulins) are associated with hematologic, autoimmune and chronic infection. ...Read more
How long does it take for herpes IgM antibodies to disappear - for a person to test negative after exposure?
Herpes simplex: Positive test results for hsv-2 indicate genital herpes. If this was igm then in 6-8 weeks it should convert to igg antibodies, but this is immaterial. Either you have this or you don't and once you have it, it will remain with you for the rest of your life. We do not yet have a cure for herpes simplex viral infection. ...Read more
Is a core positive antibody for hepetitis b is dangerous. Igm antibody negetive. Surface antigen negetive with surface antibody positive. Explain?
Epidemiology of EBV: Studies show that the Epstein Barr Virus is ubiquitous in all human populations. Children acquire the disease and seroconvert in the first few years of life. Studies also show that EBV titers are high in young children and then in persons above 50 years old. IGM antibodies are usually seen in early infection IGG antibodies immunity or memory response. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK47424/ ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I'd dengue a month back. During hectic travel, had same symptoms again. Today IgM test antibodies detected. Is it confirm I have dengue again ?
No: Anti-dengue igm can stay around for as long as a year. The best way to make the diagnosis of a second attack is by symptoms and signs. It is often quite severe, since it's by a second variant of dengue and you're very immune to the first, so your immune system may make you seriously ill. You'll know in a short time. Hoping this is not dengue again, or that you'll get good supporting treatment. ...Read more
Does a Hepatitis A Total Antibody test look for IgM antibodies or IgG antibodies? Or does it look for both? Does it differentiate between the two on the results?
You've met it: When one meets the toxoplasmosis organism (mild flu-like or no illness), IgM usually appears and may stay around for as long as 18 months. Igg will also appear and usually stay for life, suggesting you overcame the creatures. However, they may still be alive and dormant, to re-emerge should you become immunocompromised. ...Read more
What is the test result range for both negative & positive for HSV antibodies IgM & igg? Ex. <0.9 ... Etc
Differs by lab: What you are asking is for the normal "reference ranges" for these tests. Reference ranges are established by each laboratory based on their testing equipment and vary from lab to lab. There is no universal reference range for these or other lab tests. You would need to ask for the range at the lab where the tests were run. ...Read more
Recent bloodwork showed an IgM level less than 5 mg/dl. Other antibodies are normal. I do not have a spleen. Could this be the reason?
Unlikely: I find your situation interesting - both are immunologic issues. But, not having a spleen would not drop your igm levels. An isolated deficiency of igm (absence of igm) is rare. Usually it is not a problem. It might be related to your gastrointestinal issues. ...Read more
