Mcl Will Heal
The medial collateral ligament (MCL) is a wide band of tissue (a ligament) that runs along the inner side of each knee, connecting the thighbone (femur) to the shinbone (tibia), to help stabilize the knee joint. The MCL's main purpose is to prevent knees from bending too far ...Read more

Is is beneficial to allow a grade II MCL tear to heal before PCL reconstruction? How much pre-op healing time is most beneficial?
In most cases: Although surgeons may differ in their approach, many feel that 4-6 wks of "healing time " is beneficial before posterolateral corner repairs or PCL repairs.See 1 more doctor answer

1st degree acl, pcl...3rd degree MCL ... How many days it will take to heal and what I have to do?
Not likely: That diagnosis is not typical. There isn't really a mechanism of injury that would cause us to give such a diagnosis. So you more likely need to see another specialist. My best guess is that you only have a grade 3 mcl and don't have an acl or PCL injury. In that case, you only need to give it time. It should take 2-3 months for an mcl to mostly heal.
It's been 5 weeks since grade 2 and 3 MCL tear in both knees. How long does it take to heal itself?
Depends: Depends on the type of tear and its location. Most tears from the medial femoral condyle have a good blood supply and oftentimes can heal with bracing, pt, and rice. If the tear is significantly displaced or a distal tear off the tibia, these do not usually do well and can sometimes warrant surgery. Either way an MRI is necessary and I do recommend appropriate orthopedic evaluation and treatment.See 1 more doctor answer
Bout 3M ago torn my mcl/acl . Bending about 3/4 the way but pops when straighten .. Most time no pain pop.. Will it heal without surgery?
No: The ACL ligament will not heal on its own. Even when surgery is done, it is not repaired. Another structure, usually a tendon, is harvested and used in its place. If a person is low demand, they can sometimes do ok with out surgery, alrhough they may need a brace. Most reasonably active people need surgery as the ACL is the major stabilizer of the knee.
Approx. How long willit take for an MCL grade 2 knee ligament tear to heal completely without further damage?
It varies.: Usually mcl partial injuries heal within 6 weeks, improving with initial rest, brace, ice, then progressive exercise.
My ortho Dr has advised me during Arthrolysis surgery he had to move my MCL in order to reach scar tissue, thus it needs time to heal...is this common?
What kind of treatment is done for MCL sprain? Does a hinge brace help with the sprain? How long does it take to heal? Can a sprain turn into a tear?
Brace, weeks to heal: Most MCL sprains often heal on their own with relative rest, and a hinged brace can help relieve pain and stabilize the knee. There are 3 grades, with Grade 1 representing microtearing. Grade 2 is a partial tear and Grade 3 is a full tear. Grade 3s sometimes require surgery. Healing is typically 1-3 weeks for Grade 1, 3-6 weeks for Grade 2 and the longest for Grade 3.
I've partial MCL torn & ACL bony avulsion - 15 days. Dr said I don't need surgery. How long does it take to heal? Knew swelling is still there badly
Probably can rehab: If your 62, I don't think you need to have an acl reconstruction. If you have a grade 1 or 2 mcl sprain, it should heal over 4-6 weeks. Regarding the ACL, you still will have 3 other ligaments in your knee in addition to other stabilizers Once the swelling has gone down, you can begin rehab to regain your motion and increase your quad and hamstring strengthSee 1 more doctor answer

MCL: Injury to the medial collateral ligament (mcl) is a common sports injury. These injuries are graded as grade i, ii or iii which is akin to mild, moderate, severe. Most isolated mcl injuries heal without the need for surgery. Depending on the severity of injury, the healing time can vary between 6 and 10 weeks.
