Depends on disorder: We don't give digestive enzymes to normal young children, because they have all the digestive enzymes that they need. If they have trouble disgesting certain foods, and don't have a medical disorder, they can just adjust their diets by eating different foods. Children with a defect in their digestion can see a Pediatric Gastroenterologist to set up a plan of treatment, for foods and medications. ...Read more

How would you recommend coming off topamax (topiramate) I'm currently on 75mg am and 50mg pm. What dosage should I drop to and how often. I'm on for migraines?
My bp and heartrate are perfect. I'm afraid my insurance will drop me if I report meth to the e.r. What side fx can meth have from 1 use? (high dosage)
It depends: Side effects can differ significantly from one person to another. Indeed some people can even become sedated when they use a stimulant. Rapid heart rate and increased bp common and even serious heart arrhythmias can occur. I doubt your insurance could be dropped based on meth abuse particularly now with obamacare. ...Read more
Only for infection: Trifluridine (viroptic) is usually used for herpetic viral infections of the eye. The usual dosage is one drop 8-9x/day for 1 week and then tapering the medication down for the 2nd week. Chronic and prolonged usage of this medication may cause corneal toxicity so the patient should be monitored carefully during treatment. Your doc should be able to see the improvement and then have you stop. ...Read more
What is the time frame for weaning yourself of oxycontins used for pain relief? Have been using 40mg ones for 6 mths. How quickly can I drop the dosage?
I assume that you are taking 40mg every 12 hours for a total dose of 80mg per day. You should wean slowly, usually by 10% increments.
I would decrease to 30 mg bid for 2 weeks, then 20mg bid for 2 weeks, then 10mg bid for 4 weeks. If at any point you have true withdrawl symptoms, you can increase to the higher level briefly. Clonidine at low doses can reduce withdrawl symptoms. ...Read more

Generic bromfenac eye drop vs brand name bromday. Why the generic is twice a day where the brand name once a day dosage. Is there strength differences?
Similar: Both Bromday and generic bromfenac are 0.09% solutions. Bromday is a different formulation which was approved by the fda for control of inflammation post-operatively after cataract surgery using it once a day. Generic bromfenac was approved for twice a day use. The generic form was never studied at once a day dosage, but I think it is as effective as bromday, using both once a day. ...Read more

My one month son was given more than the recommended dose of gas drops he seems fine but should I worry?
Problems not likely: It is unlikely that the gas drops whose active ingredients is most commonly simethicone will cause any harm. However, there is not any legitimate medical evidence to show that this medication in infants is actually effective so you may want to discuss with your pediatrician the need to continue. ...Read more
Ihad thyroidectomy last year becauseof hurtheladenoma. After surgy my weight was64 I in eltroxen200 my weight is drop to 60now is it due to large dose?
Thyroidectomy: Difficult to fully understand your question. But, I think you are wondering why your weight dropped after surgery for hurthle cell adenoma. You suspect it might be the dose of the thyroid hormone and it is quite possibly the case. Make sure your endocrinologist is following your TSH level and making adjustments to rx (levothyroxine is typically used in usa). ...Read more

Can I give my formula fed baby (3m old) vit D3 drops, as a prophylactic like once weekly 200 iu (half dose), he drinks about 25-30 ounce per day?
Formula babies: The recommended dose of vitamin d drops is to have at least 400 iu daily, and this is for all children ages 0-18. Look at your formula. If it contains vitamin d, then use the drops to supplement. If it doesn't, make sure he/she is getting 400 iu from the drops. Good luck! ...Read more
What can be done for people who have a difficult time upping allergy shot dose due to local reaction? Lower dose? Repeat 1 dose often? Sublingual drops?
Depends: At least 2 studies showed that lowering the dose due to local reaction actually leads to more reactions. On the other hand, one must balance the discomfort against the potential gains. I would ask the patient to take an antihistamine about 2 hrs prior to see if this helps. The next question is whether the dose should be raised any further if there has been sufficient improvement. ...Read more

Drop?: Sorry but I don't know what you are referring to by "Drop". Alcohol? If you have had no periods for a number of months - the pregnancy test should have been much more than a faint line if you were pregnant. My body acts weird. Everytime I use Zyrtec (cetirizine) drops I get very little drowsy only on the first dose. My tolerance goes away if I stop it for long. Why?
Expected: That's true with most sedating antihistamines. One does get used to the drowsiness after a couple of weeks. Whether this is due to a faster breakdown of the drug by the liver or reconditioning of the brain- no one knows However it is believed that some impairment in performance does happen when measured by performance tools even though you may not be feeling it. ...Read more
