Maximum Dose Of Ritalin Per Day
Ritalin (methylphenidate) LA 20 mg taken at 9 last until 11 then I start to feel down and don't want to do anything. I'm thinking my dose is too low to last me all day?
May be: You may need your dose increased or medication added in the afternoon. Review this with your doctor. All the best.
Ritalin (methylphenidate): The dose is very dependent on the person's reaction. At 17 it is less likely to be dosed based on weight. Check with your prescribing doc. Be sure to ask about when you need liver function tests.
Second day on Ritalin (methylphenidate). It seems to be making me tired. What can I do? My dose is 5mg in the morning and 5mg at lunch
Ritalin (methylphenidate) Dosage: Should discuss medication effects with your doctor and what type of response you have. May want to consider a different medication in the same class or a slow-release formulation.
I'm having nausea with Strattera 100mg. I start from once to twice a day. I'm on Ritalin 40-60 mg per day too. How long it will take nausea to go away?
Possible dose effect: With the Ritalin and Strattera at those doses, you are taking a fair amount of medication. The nausea may be a result of the fact that you are on high doses of both medications. I would talk to your doctor about how to reduce one or both of the doses of those medications to see whether that helps with the nausea.
My doctor started me on 20 mg of ritalin (methylphenidate) per day last week and these past couple days it has just made me tired. Why is that?
See below: These meds are much more complicated than most people and doctors understand. They may slow down certain areas which are ramped up (adhd/add) but they will affect the entire brain and other areas of the body and the long term affects are not really well known. In your case, this may be affecting you general energy levels and causing fatigue or may have ramped down your hyper and now - tired.
Was tired all the time all tests normal dr put me on ritalin (methylphenidate) 10mg 2x per day for stimulant to stay awake. Now getting tired again why?
Unsure: Ritalin (methylphenidate) is a way to manage your symptom of excessive tiredness, but it is not clear what your underlying problem is that caused your symptom. Perhaps the underlying cause hasn't resolved or been treated. There are too many possible causes of tiredness that need to be considered. Possibilities include depression, anemia, . .. You may also have developed some tolerance to ritalin (methylphenidate). Talk to your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
Dr prescription ritalin (methylphenidate) for drowsiness, second day and no benefits, 5mgx2, dr told me that this is evaluating dose, next meet is 5 oct, recommended dose? Best regards
Hypersomnia: The range varies. At your age I would select long-acting methylphenidate 54 mg as day. The brand is Concerta 54 mg every morning. Your current dose is fine as a starting dose to see how you tolerate it, but hypersomnia generally requires 54 mg and sometimes even more. Best wishes. Call your doctor and see if he will let you escalate more rapidly. Hypersomnia is simply no fun.
I got addicted to ritalin (methylphenidate) 150 mg per day, per rectal abuse. Don't have a rehab or psychiatrist near by. Tried to tapper and stop it, but failed.?
I was on Ritalin 120mg day, developed tolerance. Now Adderall 120mg, but unhelpful & side effects. Would Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) be better? & what dose comparable?
Why did my doctor refused to increase my ritalin dose more than 20 mg 3x a day (with 50 mg Zoloft (sertraline) 2x a day)?
Ritalin (methylphenidate): I can't be sure because there are many reasons to increase or change medications and you have not given enough information. The dose is on the higher side and this may be his reluctance. I would talk with your doctor and find out why. There are also other medications to try.
What is the maximum dose of ritalin (methylphenidate) ir which can be given to a patient if he needs much more than normal? How many mgs are a maximum?
I've heard 40-60mgs: I've heard that doses higher than 60 mgs per day can be harmful and are not recommended. If your symptoms are not controlled well by the meds you take at safe high doses, perhaps additional forms of treatment like cbt therapy might help. Young people can benefit so much from learning better self-management life skills. The best part is that they improve many things and have no health risks. Think.See 2 more doctor answers
Does stopping ritalin on weekends help avoiding having tolerance on methylphenidate and the need of larger doses?
Depends: This is the way I prescribe it. It is primarily used as an aid to the "work" of the student who needs to focus, and during weekends when s/he is off "work" there is value in being in their normal state, if not too problematic. I don't see much tolerance in kids, and limiting the med during their growing years limits the impact on that process.See 1 more doctor answer
Will I always stay at the same dose of ritalin (methylphenidate) or will I have to go higher because of tolerance?
Can I take ritalin (methylphenidate) 10 mg one in the morning and one at night (7 pm)? Would the night dose be dangerous or cause me problems?
Hard to say: Ritalin (methylphenidate) varies in its effect on people. For some the increase in alertness can make sleep difficult if it is still in your system while some actually sleep better when they take it at bedtime. Every nervous system is somewhat unique and you will need to find how it effects you. At that dose level it will not hurt you to try it that way.See 3 more doctor answers
How will you wait on each dose of ritalin (methylphenidate) ir if no benefit until increasing it, when titrating for the first time? A week? 2 weeks?
Ask your doctor: You do not list your current dose. However, this question needs to be addressed to the doctor who prescribed it. Without a detailed history it is impossible to answer this question with specifics.See 1 more doctor answer
Difference between sr and xr? It's not clear in many references, I know both of them will be released gradually for goals.2) ritalin (methylphenidate) usual adult dose?
Delayed release Meds: The difference between the sr and xr preparations is how the drug is packaged for delayed delivery. Both are delayed released preparation and provide a uniform delivery of medication through the day. Usually the dose is 1to 1 for methylphenidate. The delayed release form doesn't have a peak or jolt that certain patients need.See 1 more doctor answer
Not recommended: Nyquil typically has dextromethorphan to suppress coughing in addition to an antihistamine. Combining all of those meds together, especially the cough med, can lead to interactions and unpleasant side effects that may last for hours. When using an otc med be as symptom specific as possible and avoid meds that have multiple ingredients. Hold the stimulant when using otc cold meds.See 1 more doctor answer
