Matthew swallow a flat, glass, oval-shaped marble. It is maximum 2.5cm in diameter and 0.5cm thick. Can it come out or do we need an intervention?
Pediatrics: In all likelihood, Matthew will easily pass the marble within the next few days. Try to check for it in his bowel movements. Encourage eating of bananas, apple sauce, apple juice, prunes, other high-fiber foods & keep him well-hydrated. Make sure those remaining marbles are out of reach...call your doctor if he starts complaining of pain or blood in stool. ...Read more
My daughter has 22q11 deletion. One of the questions on here said that 38 was old for someone with di george. Is there an average life expectancy?
For genetic syndromes, things are changing rapidly. A child with a chromosomal disorder born 30 years ago would not have the life expectancy of a child born today with the same genetic disorder. There were many reasons children with 22q11.2 syndrome may have died in the past and most of these conditions are managed much better now and into the future. Life expectancy is constantly
improving. ...Read more

Dr Matthew wilson told me to count 38weeks to September 18 to get the day I got pregnant/ovulation day but having trouble help doc where are you.
Count forward: It is easier count 14 weeks forward from your due date on a calendar and then the approximate conception date is 1 year earlier. Even easier, just ask your doctor to look at their "wheel" which calculates all these things. You can also estimate by adding 2 weeks to the first day of your last menstrual period. ...Read more
7yo cannot say th sound (matthew). Had speech therapy from 2-4 yo. Is this cons age app, or should I push for eval bc of prior speech problems?
Cd. Be a problem: If your son was born hearing english and he still can't say "th", he would probably benefit from speech therapy. Can he do initial or final "th"? It does matter. This could be a problem with using the muscles that make this sound or it could be a more straight-forward anatomic problem. If the school does not consider this significant enough to warrant therapy, a private therapist can help. ...Read more
I spent years building huge pecs, now I hear they offer pec implants. Is that what matthew mc has?
Hi there Dr. Matthew! I've been experiencing scalp itching for months now, and I've been using lice shampoo and dandruff treatments for a while. But nothing seems to be working!
See answer: Best wld be to see a dermatologist who can examine you and be able to give u proper treatment. If u still want to try a home remedy use white vinegar daily on ur scalp and have head bath after 10-15 minutes. It helps to put organic coconut oil on the scalp for 15 minutes prior to putting the vinegar. ...Read more
George had a TEE 2days ago. It took 3 tries to get into his esophogus. He has had problems, lots of pink mucus. An MRI shows a hole in his pharanx.
That's NOT GOOD:
If the instrument used for the Trans-esophageal echo perforated the pharynx this needs surgical evaluation!
I assume however that the "hole" is not "thru and thru" but rather a small "hole" in the mucous membrane!
Follow the endocopist's instruction and if there is no follow-up appointment. ..get one!
Hope this helps!

My 6 year old just had a nose bleed for no reason and quite a lot of bright red blood she has a hole in her hear and di george? Should I go hospital
Did it stop?: Kids get nosebleeds all the time. It always looks like a lot of blood because the nasal passages are very vascular. Dry air makes the superficial vessels more likely to bleed. No reason to go to hospital for this if bleeding stopped regardless of digeorge. If she has symptoms of low calcium that would be a reason to go to the hospital, though shouldn't cause nose bleed. ...Read more

The: The best idea may be to call your local hospital and ask for the neurology floor, and then ask a nurse for a good recommendation. The nurses will usually be very helpful with this as they know the doctors well. You could also ask your doctor for another recommendation. I am sorry you are having to go through this. ...Read more
