Ordinarily thicker tissue surrounds the teeth, however, if there is only mucosal tissue around the teeth, this tissue can also be effected adversely. I have acid reflux but the meds really don't work. The only thing that works immediately is orbit peppermint gum. Why is that?

The reverse is it: Severe gum inflammation , mostly on the lingual, the inside of the mouth, can be associated with reflux. So, you need a cleaning from a dentist who knows the condition and sequelae . Even cleaning on your own has to be more thorough . you need to rinse with water after a reflux. Infections/allergy?: acid reflux shouldn't cause your tongue or gums to hurt or burn,but gingivitis from bad oral hygiene,or allergies from certain meds or foods can cause that burn.
