Is it possible for you to contract HIV from massages?

Is it possible for you to contract HIV from massages?

No: Not even if you get a "happy ending". Blood or semen needs to forced into your own tissues. In fact, massage / noninsertive sex is a great way to get the emotional satisfaction without the risk, and doing this actively / passively / mutually will expand your repertoire and make you a better lover overall. Hoping you eventually find that one special safe person for a lifetime. Best wishes. ...Read more

HAS ANYONE EVER CONTRACTED HIV FROM A HANDJOB, PARTICULARLY FROM A MASSAGE PARLOR? MY ONLY EXPOSURE THAT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT.

No risk: Hand-genital contact has never been known to transmit HIV, even when genital fluids or saliva are used as lubricant. Also no risk for other STDs. No insertive sex means no chance of sexual transmission of HIV. Don't worry about it. ...Read more

Handjob at massage parlor. Tested for HIV with 4th gen test at 4 and 6 weeks both neg. Also had a negative HIV RNA at 20 days. Are these conclusive?

HIV: HIV is transmissible through body fluids. Unless you had an open sore on your penis and the massager who gave you the "hand job" had an open sore, that were in contact, there is minimal to almost no chance you contracted hiv from that encounter. The tests are good, but remember any HIV exposure can take several weeks to seroconvert to a positive blood test. ...Read more

I gave a therapeutic massage to someone with hiv, I noticed a small cut on my finger after I was done. The person had no open wounds. Shld I worry?

No: If you did not contact blood or opim (other potentially infectious material), then contact with a chronic disease carrier (hiv, hepatitis, etc.) should not be a problem. Ideally you washed your hands with soap & water when noticed for basic hygiene reasons, but no increased transmission risk. ...Read more

Odds of getting HIV from an Asian massage lady (if she by chance had it)? Sex was fast (5min), protected & I came in the condom but after pulling out.

Low: A man using condom properly is very unlikely to contract HIV from vaginal intercourse with a woman. Most men find this sort of experimenting to be less than truly satisfying, and I'm sorry that this has also caused you fear for your health. Your physician can test you using a pcr assay for acute infection to set your mind at ease. ...Read more

Can massage oil transmit HIV via small wound (scratch of a nail), im worrying about this, full of stress, even didn't eat, can't think of anyother. Help me?

The massage oil: Would have to have been put on by someone with an open wound that was actively washing in and out of that wound and your wound would have to be open as well, not just a scabbed scratch. Plus, HIV is not a hardy virus and any long term placement outside of body in the oil would not be suitable for the virus to live. While I can't guarantee it, it is not likely HIV would be transmitted this way. ...Read more

Can massage therapists contract HIV or Hep C with this work? I wear gloves if I have a cut but sometimes I have small scraps I don't see.

No risk, no worry: Massage carries no risk of HIV -- even without gloving there would be no significant risk. Of course This assumes the masseur isn't also providing sexual survices -- which, as you undoubtedly know, is common in some settings, to the detriment of legimtate massage parlors and workers. ...Read more

Why cannot HIV blood survive in massage oil? Because of air exposure? Would air penetrate the liquid and kill it? I don't understand why HIV cannot live in products such as face creams and massage oils or any liquid plz help clarify

HIV: Cannot survive for long outside its natural environment. Usually it is spread when infected blood or other body fluid comes in contact with a cut or mucous tissue that has been traumatized. You don't have to fear using face cream or bath oil as it is impossible to contract HIV in this manner. ...Read more

Hello. About 8 days before I had hard full body massage. During massage my pimples/acne bleeding. Did I infected by HIV. Thank you.

Not likely: I highly doubt that you got infected with HIV from the massage and the pimples bleeding even if the person massaging you had HIV. However, you should still get tested for HIV and STDs if you are sexually active. Everyone should! Be well. ...Read more

I work as a Massage Therapist and I was wondering if its possible to contract HIV or Hepatitis C from giving an infected person a massage?

No: The risk is too low to measure. In the old days, HIV simply wasn't passed within families from cuddling, bathing, etc., etc., etc. Hepatitis C discordant couples usually do not transmit the infection even after decades of unprotected sex. Hope this helps. Best wishes. ...Read more

Hi I got a plantar wart after a massage in oct 2016, I got concerned so I had an HIV elisa test done in one month later which came back as negitive af?

No HIV risk: It is unlikely you caught the plantar wart during the massage. It usually takes a few months for warts to appear after catching HPV. Regardless of the wart, nobody is ever at risk of HIV from getting a massage: it's never happened (assuming no vaginal or anal sex along with massage). A 4th generation HIV ELISA is conclusive at 1 month; if an antibody-only test, it takes 6-8 weeks (rarely 3 mo). ...Read more

Armpit pain and swollen, a week before this my massage therapist and I had frottage. Is this a symptom of hiv?

Armpit pain and swollen, a week before this my massage therapist and I had frottage. Is this a symptom of hiv?

Probably not: A painful swollen area in the armpit (axilla) is often due to a swollen lymph gland or an abscess (collection of infection and pus).

Hiv can cause swollen lymph glands but they are usually non-tender.

You should see your physician to examen the area. If it is an abscess, a small incision, after numbing the skin, to let the pus drain will usually cure it. Don't attempt to do this yourself! ...Read more
