Mass Lesion In Kidney
The kidneys are paired organs that lie on either side of the vertebral column. Part of their critical functions include the excretion of urine and removal of nitrogenous wastes products from the blood. They regulate acid-base, electrolyte, fluid balance and blood pressure. Through hormonal signals, the kidneys control the ...Read more
Yes and no: A benign kidney mass, the most common is called a simple cyst, does not cause kidney stones. Stasis of urine, diet and genetics cause stones. If there is calcium (or stones) within the mass then it may not be benign and a pre and post contrast ct or MRI is needed to determine what is going on. ...Read more
Iam 63 old have soft tisse mass in descedig colon measres 67*42*38 mm with focal liver lesion in rt lobe
show adeno carcinoma with necrosis?
Colon mass: Cheryl, this is difficult to answer. If you have a biopsy diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma, then the liver lesion may represent a metastasis. It could also represent only a liver hemangioma. Only a liver biopsy of the lesion is definitive. Red cell tagging studies sometimes can be definitive noninvasive study for liver hemangioma but does not have 100% sensitivity and may give false negative. ...Read more

Can there be a cyst and a exophytic solid mass lesion on a kidney? are the thge same? does the solid mass indicate cancer?
Need followup: Renal cysts are common. The majority are benign. Cysts can also be assoicated with malignancies and some malignancies have cystic areas. A solid exophytic mass may be more worrisome. YOu need a further workup and you may need a biopsy or surrgical resection to know for sure. Discuss imaging and surgical options with your doctors. ...Read more
3mm hypodense liver lesion in caudate lobe & two 3mm hypodense pancreatic head lesions on CT in setting of carcinoid workup. Can these be tumors?
May or may not be: It takes time and follow up CT scans to see if these tumors are growing in size. if they are not tumors(cancer) it will remain unchanged in size over a period of 3-6 months. A biopsy may be required to confirm it in case these lesions are increasing in size(growing bigger). They are too small to do a biopsy now, need to be at least 1Cm or bigger. ...Read more
CT of the abdomen showed an incidental rt renal heterogeneous hypodense inflammatory mass. Urinalysis and urine culture are negative. Is it cancer?
Here are some ...: Incidental masses of kidneys have been increasingly found resulting from prevailing use of CT / US in evaluating various abdomen or back-related symptoms. How to handle such pressuring concerns has undergo a fast pace of change but still with INDIRECT evidence from continual collection & analysis of available experience. Your options may include repeating CT in 6-12 months if the size is ...Read more

Ultrasound showed 2.4x1.3 cm hypoechoic nonvascular region in upper pole cortex of left kidney. Otherwise normal kidney. I'm freaking out. Cancer?
It can be benign: Cysts are common in the kidneys. So ask your doctor to confirm if it is cystic or solid structure. Cysts are benign fluid filled structures whic can be left alone. Solid lesions can be a tumor and may need to be removed. Repeat follow up in 6 months can be reassuring if there is no further increase in size. You may need to seen a Urologist to advice you further ...Read more
CT - "Adxenal mass" "Calcifications in the pelvis may indicate vascular phleboliths". What test can confirm this? Is an adxenal mass the same as cyst?
Yes,: an ovarian cyst is in the category of adnexal masses, but so are other ovarian and paraovarian masses . Generally the next step in the evaluation would be pelvic ultrasound to characterize it as a cyst or not. Phleboliths are common incidental findings and usually of no clinical concern. ...Read more
HILAR MASS LESION IS SYMPTOMS OF LUNG CANCER ? what is the best medicine to remove hilar mass lesion .
Mri shows t2 hyperintensity in the right hepatic lobe measuring 2.1 cm. Hepatic ultrasound strongly advised. Is this a lesion, mass, malignant?
Get US: Get the ultrasound to further characterize the lesion. Likely benign but doppler ultrasound will further determine features that define etiology especially if solid or cystic, vascular (blood vessel) or not vascular if necessary a biopsy will provide definitive answer if it is not benign vascular lesion on us. ...Read more
CT scan shows I have a cystic teratoma/dermoid cyst with an additional 3.5 cm rounded fluid attenuation mass within R pelvis abutting the above mass.
Sorry to hear it. Q?: I'm sorry to hear the scan report. It seems like you could use some support in making sense of all this. Most importantly, do you have symptoms? I don't see a question posed, so please specify what is worrying you about the CT scan report. A teratoma is a (usually) benign tumor or growth. Fluid around the teratoma ("abutting the mass") is not unusual, & could also be b9. TTYD or use HealthTap Pr ...Read more

perapelvic cyst leftkidney causing mild calyectasis.Multiple renal cortical cys?
Multiple kidney cyst: The vast majority of renal cysts and benign simple cysts which are a symptomatic and causes no problems. It is not the same as polycystic kidney disease, where many cysts on both kidneys could lead to kidney failure. An ultrasound can determine if these are simple vs complex cysts, the latter could be worrisome. I suspect the kind you have could simply be followed over time; urologist will guide. ...Read more
