Adrenal Fatigue (Definition)

Adrenal fatigue is not a recognized diagnosis in science based medicine. Although inconsistent with our understanding of adrenal physiology, the theory is that the adrenal glands "wear out" after a prolonged stress leading to fatigue. There is no evidence or reason to believe this occurs. When the adrenals are damaged or fail in conditions such as addison's disease -- ...Read more

35yo m HIV neg. Cd3, cd4, cd8 mildly depressed, cd19 mildly elevated.Fatigue large complaint. Possible causes of immune dysfunction listed?

Horses, not zebras: You don't have "immune dysfunction." you have a mild abnormality of a lab test that shouldn't have been drawn in the first place. Focus on common causes of fatigue, not rare ones. ...Read more

Is adrenal fatigue pupil test always true?

Is adrenal fatigue pupil test always true?

worthless test: Even in complete adrenal failure (addisions disease) I am unaware of this sign. I would place no reliability on this sign. "adrenal fatigue" is a fake diagnosis, and this is a fake sign that tries to trick you into thinking you have something. Elsewhere on healthtap, there are many answers to the question of adrenal fatigue by many doctors. ...Read more

What causes low blood level of dhea. I'm 25 female. Adrenal tumor maybe? I have high estrogen and chronic fatigue, body pain etc...

See endocrinologist: Dhea isn't a hormone we typically measure at random because it isn't as reliable as the longer 1/2 life of dheas. Likewise, we usually don't measure total estrogen as it isn't helpful. Dhea is most reliable when compared before and after IV acth during stim testing around other hormones. Adrenal insufficiency can't be identified with a random dhea. ...Read more

May be CAH: Usually when the 17-oh Progesterone levels are markedly elevated it is lo-cah though your endocrinologist or re may chose to check an acth stimulation test first. Pcos and lo-cah have essentially the same symptoms. ...Read more

Have all hypothyroid symptoms but TSH 2.8, gerd, roaming joint pain, insomnia, fatigue, anorexia, neutrophils^, mcv112, b9def, bp88/55, t97.2, p102, tired of bn tired?

See details: Your thyroid function is normal so one needs to consider other causes for your symptoms. The gerd is likely unrelated. The possible causes are several and include physical issues as well as chronic depression. I would see a rheumatologist if your own doctor cannot find a specific cause. ...Read more

Can my heterozygotes status of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (21-Hydrolaxe deficiency, salt-wasting) explain hirsurtism & symptoms like polydipsia?

Can my heterozygotes status of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (21-Hydrolaxe deficiency, salt-wasting) explain hirsurtism & symptoms like polydipsia?

Maybe: Hydroxylase deficiency is actually a continuum, and there are many alleles. A workup is probably not worthwhile. Manage unwanted body hair with electrolysis or lasers -- you're doing yourself a favor. If your urinalysis (chemical, sediment), renal functions (BUN, creatinine) and concentrating ability (SG >1.020) while thirsty) are normal, I would not recommend further studies. ...Read more

Causes of weight loss despite eating like pig (fast food, mini muffins, sugared bevs)? Normal CBC. Low-end salivary cortisol. Other Sx are fatigue, sleep issues, and excessive urination. More likely adrenal failure or cancer, and what kind?

Rule out diabetes: And not diabetic? Doubt cancer. And why would you have adrenal failure out of the blue? Not a chronic steroid user, are you? Or had recent infection? Sounds like you need to see an endocrine if your PCP can‘t figure it out. Could be an autoimmune thing, too. ...Read more
