Hi m indian. If we all came from adam and eve(bible or evolution), did along the line our dna's got mutated and hence the different looks we have?
Yes: There are many great examples of traits that emerge with spontaneous mutations in our genes. Some provide benefit to us (thinking capacity) and some not (cystic fibrosis) some with some benefit to some and hurt to others. Sickle cell hemoglobin provides resistance to malaria in the carrier state (1/2 genes) but can be deadly if 2/2 genes are involved.Add these over 100's of thousands of generatins. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
New mole : One can develop new moles as one ages. If a new mole has abnormal features such as asymmetry, irregular borders, different colors (especially brown/black), diameter bigger than a pencil head eraser, or evolving (itch, bleed, etc.) have it examined by a dermatologist . Melanoma is most commonly found on men on the back. This location, however, does not guarantee a mole is or is not cancerous. ...Read more
Mosaicism, missing "y" in 15% of cells on amniocentesis at 15wks' & postnatal test. Male, now 16. What does this mean?Worried grandma.
Sounds fine to me: I understand that junior was found to have 15% of cells missing y chromosomes and is now grown into a 16 year old teen with a couple of developmental issues that many other kids share. From my reading, there's no particular syndrome that you're likely to see with this constellation of findings, and everybody's best served by regarding junior as exactly what he is -- a wonderful boy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Had 3 drs look at invisible lump, no biop. Decided its deep lipoma partly on spine. I found almost matching pair below ribs. Spot on back liposarcoma?
Probably not: Most subcutaneous above muscle fascia tumors are lipomas. Common to have multiple lipomas at the same time. The lipoma is soft compared to liposarcoma which is firm. Soft fatty tumors under 10 cm. in size are for the most part benign. The growing lipoma which becomes firm is usually the Sa. In very large lipomas, one can find variations with lipoma and Sa mixed in the same growth. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I did a DNA PCR test for HSV & i got the result: -humanes herpesvirus-dna ((typ 7, pcr) (eb) : negative limit of detection:100 copies/ml.So i'm clean?
Hsv-7 isn't detected: Your question will require some clarification since you stated being tested for herpes simplex virus, the result you describe tests for human herpesvirus type7, which cannot be detected by pcr testing below 100 copies per ml . Hhv-7 is not the same as hsv. Though theyboth belong to the same heresviridae family. ...Read more

My rnp is1.6 (normal<1.0), u1rnp is >0.2, all ena- panel >0.2. My ebna:0.8, vca-igm:<0.2, ea-d:0, vca-igg:5. Can rnp rise from vca-igg:8.5(norm>1.0)?
Possibly: The epstein-barr virus (causes pos vca, ebna ab)is known for manipulating the immune system of infected people (nearly all adults have evidence of past infection).Acute infections, particularly with some viruses, can definitely cause a non-specific rise in autoantibodies like rnp & other antibodies that contribute to having a positive ana. This rise is not permanent and will likely normalize in time. ...Read more

BRAC Analysis: As many as 10-15% of breast cancers in the us are believed to be hereditary. These are linked to mutations of a particular group of genes called the brca genes. There is a simple blood test to check to see if someone has a brca mutation. I advise my interested patients to see a genetic counselor to fully understand the ramifications of this test before having it done. ...Read more
