Clean male. UTI like symptoms. Started week ago, burning sensation when urinating/ejac. Going away but still slightly there w/ ejac. What to do?

See doc: I would suggest you see your doctor and have him/her run a urinalysis on your urine to make sure you don't actually have a urinary tract infection as those are common symptoms that go along with a UTI and they can then treat you based upon results. Best wishes. ...Read more

32 yr old male with uti taking cipro (ciprofloxacin).
A. Will it affect my sperm count?
B. Can antibiotics affect child?
C. Will it affect sperm later, created today?

Antibiotics: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is overall safe. It does weaken some tendons but should have no direct effect on your sperm. If it does affect sperm it would be on the sperm currently developing which won't be mature until approximately 70 to 90 days later. ...Read more

32 yr old male with UTI from e coli. What could cause this? Was at a water park recently. Ct scan good. Showed mild bladder wall thickening.

Not from water park.: It is extremely unlikely that you would receive any innoculation of bacteria from exposure in a water park that could traverse your (male) urethra to cause an infection. Without a stone, I would suggest that you were likely dehydrated. Have you had any infections before? You may need to be evaluated for subclinical prostatitis that could manifest as bladder outlet obstruction/bladder thickening. ...Read more

73 yo male suffered bad uti infection 105 fever down to normal, in ICU. Prostate was removed 1.5 yrs ago. Doc says infection entered blood. means what?

Sepsis: A urinary infection is one of the most common infections which can become severe and even life-threatening in older men. The bacteria can invade the bladder wall and enter the blood vessels there. Then the bacteria and infection can travel through the complete circulation causing systemic sepsis. Especially high fevers (like 105) can accompany this; intensive care/IV antibiotics needed ...Read more

I have burning in bladder region and frequent urination. Im a virgin male teen... is ds uti?

Maybe: Anybody who has a urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, +/- penis) can have a urinary tract infection. This happens to people every day, all over the world. A teen male is much less likely than a teen girl to get a UTI. So, a teen male with possible UTI symptoms needs to see his doctor. Also, there are some less common medical disorders that cause UTI symptoms but are not infections. ...Read more

I'm a 35 year old male think I have uti hard to urinate in the morning is worse but I have a full script of keflex from past should i take them?

NO Keflex!: Definitely do not self treat this with cephalexin (Keflex) or anything else. It probably is not a UTI anyway. UTIs are rare in men your age; even if it is, this will screw up the diagnosis. If "hard" means slow flow or difficulty starting to void, maybe blockage in urethra or prostate. If discharge and/or pain, an STD is possible. Don't treat, get care ASAP and take it from there. Good luck! ...Read more

What causes UTI in male teenager ? And is trimethoprim effective treatment for eliminating klebsiella species causing UTI?

Usually?: Often male UTIs are a marker of an STD, poor personal (/penile) hygiene, or a known anatomic variance that interferes with urinary flow/clearance, or diabetes with poor control (causing sugar in urine). Consider above and address which most likely fits your situation. If UTI recurs, discuss above with Dr, as more testing may be needed. What % of men get UTI's?

UTI: A urine infection is often called a urinary tract infection (UTI) by doctors. When the infection is just in the bladder and urethra, this is called a lower UTI. If it travels up to affect one or both kidneys as well then it is called an upper UTI. This can be more serious than lower UTIs, as the kidneys can become damaged by the infection. http://patient.info/health/urine-infection-in-men ...Read more

Do men get UTI's too? Or just in women? If so, what are the symptoms?

UTI in men: Yes, they happen, but are much more rare because of the length of the male urethra compared to females. Symptoms include urinary frequency and urgency (gotta go all the time, nothing comes out), bladder spasm, pelvic pain. More common in men are infections like STDs (chlamydia/gonorrhea) or epididymitis, an infection in the testicle. Go get this checked. Any of the above need to be treated. ...Read more

I am female. My male partner wants to give me oral. I have a UTI. Will he get it?

No: The typical bacterial urinary tract infection does not transmit from a woman to a man via the man's mouth. There may be rare cases of viral, parasitic, or bacterial infections transmitted from a woman's bladder to a man's bladder, through his licking, but that would be a rare event. Bacteria: Usually men do not get uti's as frequently as the urethra tume from the bladder to the outside world, is longer than in women affording better protection from bacteria on the skin. If the prostate is large, as it gets as we age, or it there is a stricture (an obstruction in the tube) then the bladder may not empty and residual urine in the bladder is more likely to become infected. ...Read more

No: Sexual activity is often the cause of a urinary tract infection in women because of the anatomy, including the shorter urethra. Not common: Because the urethra is longer, UTI's are not very common in young males. Symptoms of pain with urination, frequency, and discharge are more likely due to a sexually transmitted disease such as chlamydia or gonorrhea.
