Male Sports Physical Exam
Comprehensive: Generally the sports phy will include a history and review of medications etc to ensure no contraindications to sports participation. The exam will focus on a heart, lung. Neurological and musculoskeletal exam as well as hernia check. An ekg may be done depending on sports governing body or cardiac risk factors. Finally I counsel on nutrition and injury prevention.
Probably: At the sports physical, they take a history covering general health, previous injuries, family history and exercise tolerance. There is a full physical exam including weight and blood pressure. One important part of the sports physical is checking for a hernia which will involve examining the genitals.See 1 more doctor answer
My 14 year old daughter is scheduled for a sports physical exam that will take place in 3 days. She's really anxious and scared. What happens at them?
Any local Peds, FP: Unless there are heart or lung problems outstanding, . .. Any local docs should be able to sign off on your son's pe activities form!
Very normal: This in not uncommon at all. No need to get embarrassed. Take care.
How does a physical exam differ for men and women? How does a woman's routine physical exam differ from a man's routine physical exam? .
It does not: A physical exam is a complete examination of all body parts. Other than the fact that there are some gender related differences in our body parts between men and women, the process of examination is not much different between men vs women.
When getting a yearly physical exam is it better to have a male dr perform the exam & female dr for a female? What exam is needed when your 45 male?
Doesn't matter: The gender of the physician and patient do not have to be matched to have a quality annual exam. If pub feel more comfortable with one over another, that's ok, and you can choose your doctor accordingly. Best to keep the same doctor over the years and develop a good relationship. Hope this helps!
Annually: The exam part of an annual physical is usually not the most important part, unless you're having symptoms. However, it is important to get your blood pressure checked annually. The remainder of the "physical exam" is geared to identifying risk factors for things like diabetes or cancer, doing appropriate screening tests, and discussing how to get and stay healthy with your doctor.
Age dependent: At your age regular exam, hesrt, lungs, abdomen, head and neck, muscle strength. As needed private exam. Mainly hemoglobin, cbc, liver and kidney function.
What?: This phrase really doesn't make sense. Do you mean incontinence or leakage? What is meant by "symptoms of extravasation? " extravasation is abnormal leakage of fluid from somewhere it should be to somewhere it should not, and it frequently confirmed with radiographic tests and x-ray contrast material. So, you must rephrase your question.
In adult males can the srotal-testicular-ligament attachment be confirmed by just a physical exam?
Testis: The testis is anchored to the inferior portion of the scrotum by connective tissue known as the gubernaculum. It's presence or absence cannot really be determined by physical exam in most cases. The exception would be in the case of undescended testis.
As a pretty healthy and active 35 year old male, how often should I have a comprehensive physical exam?
No definite answer: You ask a great question. There actually is no research to guide us on this question - only opinions. Mine is that every year or so makes sense, mostly to stay up-to-date on new developments in cancer screening, healthy lifestyle behaviors, and recommended vaccinations. All of these are updated on a continual basis. A good resource is an iphone app called my health checklist (2012 version coming).See 1 more doctor answer
I have never had male physical exam, should I get one at my age of 20 or not worry about it? And does insurance cover it if I get one just to do it?
Physical? Good idea: A physical is a good idea at any age. At 20 it will be directed by your family history (diseases at earlier ages than normal), and behaviors that may affect your health (smoking and sexual behavior.) blood work, and other tests will be determined by these factors. With regards to coverage, more and more companies are seeing the value of these exams, but it would be wise to check with them.
Hi I am a 61 yr old male my question do Drs still do urine test and prostate test with a annual physical exam? My New Dr doesn't do this
Good question!: Currently, there is debate and lack of consensus on, not only the value of the routine annual exam but also, what it should consist of and what tests should be included, which is why there is great variation among MDs. Routine annual urinalysis in a healthy adult has not been proven to be cost-effective. The AUA recommends annual prostate cancer screening with a DRE and PSA test for men ages 55-69See 1 more doctor answer
Sure it is: Every person with a penis knows that it can have a mind of its own at times. Babies can get erections for no reason or at diaper changes. Boys in puberty get erections on and off during the day (can be embarrassing). Men can get erections with examinations by any sort of doctor and sometimes for no reason, even without an exam. The penis has nerve connections that can make it do things on its own.See 2 more doctor answers
Will a male doc leave the room for a female physical exam, scared to go get one done have sores on my vagina if he does not leave can I ask him to?
It is time: You have a medical problem that requires an examination. You need this examination to get better. You are 46 years old. It is time to be an adult and have your exam. If you think for one moment that the doctor, male or female, will have any inappropriate thoughts about your skin then you are mistaken. We see skin every single day of our lives. It is skin and it must be examined. Go to the doctor!See 2 more doctor answers
In what situation do doctors perform prostate milking on a male patient? In a yearly physical exam, when health issues are diagnosed, or other reasons
No: There is no situation in which a doctor will milk the prostrate. However, the doctor may check the prostate if there is a risk of prostate cancer or enlargement. As you age your risk increases.
I am a 43 yr old male. I take 500mg metformin daily. My doctor recently wrote sluggish deep tendon response on my physical exam. What does that mean and what are the implications?
Several things: Could be a comment about your thyroid. Ask him/her what was meant and what is to be done about it.
Unknown: What you mean "by exam only " doesn't give much to go on. Testing for STD's should involve a pee test, a blood test and maybe a swab of the pee hole. Just looking at a persons genitals does not rule out most STD's but sometimes can find those with obvious skin findings.
