Have "pityrosporum ovale". Been treated with Ketoconazole+Nizoral shampoo, Sporanox (itraconazole) pills and topical Brentacort. Problem persist. What else can I do?
Simple....: Take 400mg of Nizoral (ketoconazole) and do activity to sweat profusely after the pill. Iron all your garments, linen, towel....whatever touches your skin. Not really: It is frequently misdiagnosed as acne. If you're using acne meds appropriately and things are not getting any better think maybe you have PF. Should be treated with anti fungal meds. No, but...: I do not believe Nystatin works on pityrosporum, but ketoconazole and selenium sulfide do!. Try otc Nizoral ad shampoo or selsun blue shampoo and lather it up on the affected areas x 5 minutes daily and wash it off in the shower. Do this for 2 weeks and see if you had success! ...Read more
