All my symptoms point to thyroid disorder but test say no. Is there another thyroid test I need?

All my symptoms point to thyroid disorder but test say no. Is there another thyroid test I need?

Symptoms: Hi. There's not a SINGLE symptom associated with hypo- or hyperthyroidism that is specific to hypo- or hyperthyroidism. Therefore, it is not surprising that symptoms you thought were due to thyroid dysfunction are associated with normal thyroid function. If your TSH and free T4 are normal, then you symptoms are not due to thyroid dysfunction. Good luck at finding a cause if there is one! ...Read more

The relative risk depends on many things, such as the specific nature of the thyroid disorder, how it was/is treated and whether or not there is ongoing inflammation in the gland. I suggest discussing this with endocrinology. ...Read more

Is it all right to take methimazole tablet (10 mg) thrice a day and multivitamine for thyroid disorder?

Yes: I assume you have an overactive (hyperthyroid) thyroid. Methimazole is a long acting medication that typically is taken once or twice a day. The total dose of 30 mg daily may be appropriate, especially early after diagnosis. The multivitamin is probably of no benefit, but it won't hurt unless it contains high amounts of iodine. ...Read more
